Well at least you proved one thing your good at guessing.

You're the worst kind of "fan" there is. The one that shows up when the team loses so he can complain.

As I advised you before, return to your gutter.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 Part II: I Believe in Seth Appert

EHF, we both want the same thing and I do believe we both are willing to be patient for success. Let's defer the debate on MUST games until February when crunch time really arrives!

GO RED!

Still Crazy, you are absolutely correct when you say that we want the same thing and are willing to be patient. No matter what happens Wednesday, I will be rooting as hard and driving the two hours to HFH to watch the Engineers play.
That said, due to our recent history going back at least three years, Wednesday is a must win. We have started out each of the last three seasons with optimism only to fall apart in December. I know that we have only played two games this December, but they have both been losses. If we lose another league game in December, we wind up in the same situation.
Of course we can bounce back in January, but that has not been the case.
Lets just go out and win some games. We have the talent, lets get the confidence.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 Part II: I Believe in Seth Appert

I think we could have and should have won both games this weekend. The Defense had a horrible night and I think that is our biggest problem right now. When a team spends an entire period in our zone we have a problem. When our D is being walked or pinches and gets burned we have a problem. And when the announcers on B2 give Polacek the Defense Player of the game we have a huge problem. We need our forwards to be freed up to attack offensively not winning defensive player of the game. Kuddos to Polacek because he played a heck of a game but I want that kid in the offensive zone shooting pucks. Appert has some work ahead of him. Shore up the D zone!!!

In the last three years opposing team offenses have spent entire seasons in our zone .;)

Anyone that doesn't think York looks uncomfortable out there right now is kidding themself. Maybe its the rib injury. His last 3 games he has given up 12 goals on less than 70 shots and 5 were against a Union team that was missing a big part of their offense. Bottom line is that his play in not going to "steal" any wins for RPI until he regains his past form. IMO Wednesday nights game is extremely important if this team is going to make a run at the top 4 in the ECAC.

To change gears on this thread here for a minute, and get us away from this bickering which I'm sure will last till at least Wednesday, how about Brown beating Quinny on Saturday???

The ECAC has spent the last few days proving that it's a league where any team can win any game. Brown wins 3 straight (including two top-ten teams nationally), QU gets swept... That's one thing I like about the ECAC. You just don't quite get that out in the WCHA, or in some other leagues. (This from someone who saw UW sweep Michigan Tech 8-2 and 6-0 this weekend. :D )

And thanks to Brown, I think I set a new personal record for a bad week in the ECAC Pick 'Em. An RPI win over Union is about the only thing that can salvage the week now.

I would love to hear more about this "rib injury," and how you've managed to scoop Ed Weaver and Ken Schott on it.

Unless York has a rib in his shoulder, which would be awesome and weird at the same time.

It could explain his "wirey"-ness. :P

Great hockey analysis again. I do admire your consistency... I will choose to wear your scorn as a badge of honor.

not surprising at all, Brown plays a very physical(and the dirtiest team i've seen all year) style with a crappy trap that can slow down QU's offense even if it is by literally holding them back. They also have a great goalie in Clemente who can pretty much keep them in any game and has been able to do so all year. They'll get a few more wins but any physical team should be able them easily imo.
Also QU was due for a letdown, they're not *that* good - no ECAC team is really that good especially when compared to teams like Denver, Colorado College, North Dakota, Miama(OH), Michigan State, etc. The fact that ECAC teams are rated as high as they are in the polls is past the point of a joke, i've watched a lot of the big teams play and they have talent levels all over their team that we can't match and goalies that can succeed at an NHL level - something that just does not happen in the ECAC
Seriously, has anyone watched any of Denver's games this year and seen their goalie Cheverie? He would guarantee almost any ecac team 1st place in the league

hm...i feel i got off topic a bit there

The night of the Bentley game, Ken is the one that told me York had an undisclosed upper body injury but thought is was a possible cracked rib. If you have a problem with my post Tom, I will discuss it with you face to face on Wednesday night.

Ahem...I was the ONLY one on the ECAC predictions to pick Brown over Quinny. I promise not to hurt myself from patting myself on the back too hard!:D

But the rest of my picks were....quite ordinary!

With York's play huge side to side Flop Guy. I love it! but the Defense has to cover the forwards!!!!!!! Dot look back for the puck there are gonna be big rebonds that is your goalie. He ain t gonna change!!!
COVER YOUR MAN The engineers bought into this type goalie lets protect him he is the best since Nathan Ask RC he might agree

I would like that.

There was word going around that it wasn't an upper body injury at all and was, instead, a lower body injury. If it's Ken who was saying it, I'd assume he heard better information.

When a goalie flops around, the upper body is sometimes where the lower body should be and vice versa. ;)

One gold star for you...did it have anything to do with their goaltender.

You managed to simultaneously give Brown not enough and too much credit for their recent success. They have won 4 straight, not 3, and they didn't beat 2 top 10 teams. The teams they beat besides Quinnipiac are all TERRIBLE. As someone else said, their clutch and grab style can throw teams off their game, especially if Dell (who reffed the Harvard game) likes them. That being said, I also like the parity of the ECAC, and hockey in general.

You're right, only one top-ten team. Why did I think Yale was in there and not Princeton?

And I did forget about them blowing out Connecticut, I wasn't thinking about league games. (Although beating Connecticut is probably less of an accomplishment these days than most teams in our league... I wish that weren't the case, but they've been having a pretty rough season.)
