JFK's father was standing in front of our section when his son scored the ENG to seal the game. Man, was he excited (as well he should have been). Several people, myself included, went up to him afterwards to congratulate him.

A lot of the guys afterwards said they'd never celebrated like that for an empty-netter before - and it wasn't about sealing the win, it was all about John.

Awesome moment.

Merriam and York both scare the crap out of me when they leave the nets. Refs were well ECAC refs

Calm down, they are both going out under control. They are young and will make mistakes, but they are in the game and it will make us a better team if they can control the puck behind the net.
They both do it very well.
We are just not used to having goaltenders roam much. By the time York is a senior, you will love it. :)

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Merriam is quite smart when he wanders and plays the puck, he's done it a couple times this year where he's helped start a rush for the offense by jumping out and playing one while the opponent is making a change.

Don't sell York short, I have seen him clear the puck while we are killing penalties. He has also started rushes with passes to the neutral zone.
They will make mistakes, but so do all the players on the ice.
We are a better team when the goalies are involved.

Yesterday was Jerry's birthday. While a win on your birthday is nice, what's better than a four-point weekend, and thus, a win at Freakout?

he should get by everyone except Juneau, and has a chance at him if they win the ecac and go to frozen four

I hope so but let's not get ahead of ourselves here. As of now we are only guaranteed 5 more games and each team will certainly be concentrating on whatever line Chase is on. If we get the first round bye (and I am counting on that) then that is a couple less games to score in. He is having a truly great season-let's be happy with that. I think if you ask him-he would be happier with an appearance for the team in Albany far more than any personal scoring achievement.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

We get almost perfect results tonight: RPI win over 7th place QU, Yale win over 4th place SLU, Colgate ties Dartmouth.

We're basically 1 point up on SLU and 2 points up on Colgate. The former because SLU has the tiebreak on us guaranteed, the latter because I am assuming that if Gate ends up in a tie for 4th they will have beaten us in Hamilton.

Correct me if I am wrong, but we could tie SLU with more wins. Wouldn't that give us the tie breaker?

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

I agree; if we had swept SLU and lost out to them on total wins we'd be screaming bloody murder.
