Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

The hand that Big Mike will get tonight should be something else to see. It was great to see him at the discussion panel and tonight should be really special.

He was well recieved yesterday and said some very nice things about the team and the school. He will get a great ovation tonight, and the ROH should definitely be in his future.(next year would be good).

The pleasant surprise was SLU coach Joe Marsh coming out to comment about the '85 team as well. I've never had a bad thing to say about Marsh ever before and I doubt I will - he is a total class act.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Also it was good to see the team stick up for D'Amigo after that hit in the 3rd period. He has the target on his back and it is only a matter of time before one of these hits is gonna keep him down. If I was coach I would send tapes of these hits to the league...wait its the ECAC nevermind nothing would be done about it. They are waiting for a kid to be seriously injured before they do something about it. The refs lost control of this game in the 3rd and thats what led to the rumble after the D'Amigo hit.

That was big. The boys were sending a message. I loved how Pirri went charging off the bench looking to get into the fray...with Seth calling him back off the ice. By the way, this type of event is one of the reasons I hope we see Curadi in Troy next year. We're losing all of our beef in Merth and Burgie.

And a heck of a good coach especially during the game.

Im having the same problem.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

The RPITV issue was discussed on one of the other threads. It's an issue between the player and Internet Explorer. They hope to have it fixed for tonight, but using a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc) should also get you the video.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Something that I havent seen mentioned about last nights game was we seemed to be hesitant to shoot the puck from the points, or in the high areas , top of the circle, etc.. I can recall a few occasions when one of our D-men( think it was Foss this time) waited 3 or four seconds to shoot and that gave the SLU forward time to get out to him and block the shot.

Even on his goal, and Im not singling him out, it wasnt immediate that he shot it. He looked to pass, faked, looked around, then shot it after he had it on his stick for what seemed like 5 seconds and the rest is history. But SLU's tight play in their D-Zone Im sure had something to do with this.

Guess what Im trying to say is when the opportunity presents itself Id like to see more shots come from our points, before the opponent is able to block the shooting lanes or the winger gets out to our pointman.

With ECAC Officiating not protecting players the age of needing an enforcer is going to be making a comeback.

I got the game on IE last night with just a little buffering. No real problems.
I will try Firefox tonight and hopefully will not get the buffering problem either.

I completely agree with the need to get quick shots/releases from the point. I would say that Bergin had a nice play where he held the puck, forced the defender to slide then Bergin slid back the other way and got the shot off.

Yep, we're working on the IE issue that affects videos on our website. Other browsers such as Chrome or Firefox should work fine. If you're having trouble in Chrome or Firefox, ensure Javascript is enabled and you have a recent version of Flash Player installed.

Tonight's live stream (via Ustream) should be viewable in virtually any browser. The quality of the live stream is mostly determinant on your internet connection (1 mbps or greater required) and processor (something relatively recent recommended).

If you're having further trouble, I'd suggest emailing me at hamilr2@rpi.edu rather than gumming up these threads :) .

Thanks, I did try it in Firefox and it worked. Thanks for all the work at RPITV

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Amen...that is pretty much it in a nut shell...Mike was cut from old cloth he was not a politician.Any players whom had an issue w/Big Mike simply were not putting out the effort he demanded from is players. The incident that triggered Mikes demise was way overblown I believe the players involved conveyed that at the time. This was not the reason he was run out of town but the excuse.IMO the AD at the time with the initials BD felt his authority was threatened by Mike and made it his mission to run him out of Town. And oh by the way if the coach that brought at National Championship to the school does not end up in the ring of honor ASAP I think it threatens the legitimacy of the ring and makes it just another political exercise and we all know how Mike fared in those things.

Bob Ducatte was not the guy behind Mike's demise, but it is correct that the Townshend incident was an excuse for certain members of the RPI administration to push him out.

Glad to hear the huge ovation for Coach Mike. Sounded like the biggest of the nite! A win is a win.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Just another comment about RPITV.

I've had no trouble at all picking it up on my computer, and I do use Internet Explorer as my browser.

The funny thing is, I can't get the WRPI audio feed on my computer, but I don't have to worry about that any more, because now I get the WRPI commentary and the picture as well.

For an RPI fan living in an area where college hockey receives no attention at all from the local media, RPITV is really a blessing. Thanks to RHamilton and his staff for making this possible.
