Rit

Re: Rit

Chekov won't be born until the mid 23rd century, so until then I'll just point out that RIT is in the northwest corner of the Town of Henrietta.

Powers &8^]

After hearing of a nerd concentration, he plotted it while on board the USS Enterprise in 1986, so while he won't be born until 2245, he did note it was in South Henrietta :p

Ummm.... I'm going to be the nerd to point it out here. The USS Enterprize Starship never traveled to 1986, in The Vogage Home. The Crew of the Enterprize toke the Klingon Bird of Prey that they had named the Bounty, back to 1986.

Recall Chekov almost died, falling off the deck of the naval aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, being mistaken as a Russian spy, saved by McCoy? You have been demoted to nerd want-to-be :p

Re: Rit

The name "Horseheads" sounds so hick - I know, I'm from Northfield Falls, so I should talk about hick :D

Whenever I run into an out of towner, they mention that when they first heard of Horseheads, they assumed it was either a mobster or hick town. Like most of New York, the name originates from either Indian or Civil War heritages. My 4th grade teacher swore that Horseheads got its name from when Indians buried their dead horses there during the Civil War.

Anyhow, truth is, it's a very safe and beautiful place to raise a family, as is Big Flats. Once people retire, they stay there and won't relocate down south as many others do. There is a nice homey feel to these areas. Beautiful green scenery in the Summer, breathtaking Falls with the changing leaves, and stunning snow covered trees and landscapes in the winter after a fresh snow (but you don't appreciate that winter scenery as much when you're in the process of digging out your car and uncovering the driveway:D ) You can watch great hockey in the winter and play golf and take in the beauty of nature in the summer :)

From the Village of Horseheads website:
September 24, 1779 - this date hallmarks the time and hallowed ground where lie the true relics and sun-bleached skulls of the American Military Pack horses of the armies of Major-General John Sullivan. These peaceful servants of General Sullivan and his officers, with about 5000 “ragged rebels” (as expressed by King George III) brought forth a gallantry in the American Revolutionary War’s western campaign against the Six Nations of Native Americans (Iroquois).

Burdened down with heavy military equipment in their 450-mile journey through a wooden wilderness from Easton, PA over to Wyoming, and on up the Susquehanna River Trail to Elmira, NY, they continued north through Horseheads to the Finger Lakes Region and west to Geneseo. Returning the same route to Horseheads, these military pack horses had reached the end of their endurance. Here, General Sullivan, through humanitary reasons was compelled to dispose of these partners in the cause of American freedom.

Just don't go to Elmira, its one of the top 3 worst crime cities in all of NY including NYC....:)
