Hoping the new venue brings a change in luck for RIT against Niagara.

Hopefully both games will be good as they are being carried on Time Warner here in Utica.

Also, 2015 recruit Abbott Girduckis RW-Wellington OJHL was selected for the World Jr A Challenge being held Kindersly Sask

Better 2nd period. Need to kill off this 5-3 and sustain that level of energy in the 3rd.

RIT beat Niagara in our barn. The curse of Ritter is dead!

No matter what else happens this season..we'll always have a 4-1 win against Niagara.

9 minutes of penalty kill in the third period; one shot allowed.

Does anyone have a more stifling PK than RIT right now?

It helps that the Niagara powerplay is an atrocity right now, but it's definitely nice to see our PK playing so great. Power play is picking up too...it almost seems like the team is figuring out that shooting is an effective strategy!

I haven't watched all of the game yet. But a couple of observations...

Another line beside the Grabowsky one needs to get scoring. It's great he's on fire but for the long run it's unsustainable.

Also was the attendance as bad as it looked on TV?

Attendance was about 2,500. It always looks emptier on TV though since most people tend to sit in the GA end or the area around the club seats which is usually the opposite direction from the camera.

Hey we got 2 goals last night not from Garbowsky, including a PPG. That's a start! Schuler looked good for being out of game shape and having not played in so long. He will help long term as he gets back up to speed. And Skirving is a little snakebit right now, but he's got the skills.

I would say the side opposite the club is usually more full, but the North end is always deserted.

The camera is in the press box area, which is across the rink from the club seats.

Attendance was about 2,500.

And even though it looks empty, this is still more than we could have ever tried to fit in Ritter.

True... and, in watching the re-run of the game today, I noticed that it looked pretty crowded in some shots.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Friday seemed like a late arriving crowd. Getting 2500 during exam week is still very good and more than what we could fit into the Ritter. It will be interesting to see what the Saturday game in February against Niagara will bring.

I thought getting a tie yesterday was important to at least keep the momentum going. A 3 point weekend against a team that you historically struggle to get 2 is huge. With the rest and then 2 non-conference games with the Minnesota Tournament to me means they can really get things together for a potential strong push to close the season.

Garbowsky is carrying that line, to me he is a clear 1st half MVP of the AHA. What is frustrating about the rest of the line, and the rest of the team is a poor conversion rate on quality scoring chances. I thought they were the better team last night against Niagara and getting a 3 point weekend against them is big. However I felt that game was their to be taken and they left some chances out there that kept them for getting the extra point for the win.

To me the question for the second half will be can RIT win if Matt Garbowsky doesn't score?????

True. It just looks bad on TV when lots of front row seats at the end RIT defends twice are mostly empty. 2500 is respectable, but at the time I wrote my comment I had no idea how many attended. I just had to go by what it looked like on TV.

He's playing right now like not just the MVP of the AHA but one of the best in the nation. The guys on TV on Friday were talking about him being a Hobey candidate. And while I think those two are bozos they are spot on in this instance. If he keeps this kind of play up he should be. He won't win, and shouldn't, but he should be in the conversation.

My answer is "No". Right now without him playing at such a high level, RIT would be in serious trouble. If another line doesn't get going and at least become a threat to score then the second half is going to be tough. One bad stretch by Garbowsky and his line, and RIT would be in the middle of a losing streak.

Three of the top 4 in scoring in the nation are from the AHA. While they may deserve it, I would be shocked if more than 1 made it to the Hobey finalists due to at least perceived last of quality competition in the league.

And the one who does make it as a candidate won't be seriously considered. More like a "thanks for playing" nod.

No shame in being named among the top 10 in the nation.

With the Corner Crew and Pep band on the side RIT attacks twice, it's going to look like that. I think a lot of the season seat holders also sit opposite short corner of the Corner Crew as well.

Tigers pick a D Recruit in Gordie Ballhorn from the AJHL Whitecourt wolverines. in 29 games he's got a 3g-6a-35pim line.

He's 6' 175lbs and it is his first full year (2 games in '13-'14) in the AJHL as he's only just turned 17 (DOB 9/2/1997). I imagine he'll spend at least another year in juniors before we see him hitting the ice in Rochester.
