Ruby played admirably when you consider the barrage of shots he took. Whether that gives him the start against Holy Cross remains to be seen.

Getting out of 4 really tough road conference games 1-3 is not the worst thing. It would have been nice to get 2-2, but it is what it is. The team needs to get healthy against Holy Cross at home this coming week. Bottom line though is that the forwards need to get healthy.
Yeah, and we scored twice on Saturday night against one of the hottest goalies in D1 hockey. These tough road games are like warming up with extra weights on your bat before you're up in baseball. Unfortunately these games count, but it's not too deep a hole.

Yeah but it means we gotta hit it out of the park when we get a pitch down the middle.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

ya the line chart has him off which is wrong, healthy scratch or not the statement still stands. They are both great on the power play as defenders, Amlong actually shoots the puck. It makes no sense having our third line in to me. When they pair with the fourth offensive line it looks awful with the four big guys out there and a defensemen at center

My assumption is their lack of speed is what is getting them scratched. Not sure they are really PP type guys - you tend to go with speed and hands for your powerplay d-men.

As has been mentioned, I think we need to get some forwards back - we only had 12 healthy ones to start the season and having to play a d-man at center now is tough - not that Perron-Fontaine has done a bad job but it's asking a lot from him and also hurts our backend too not having his speed back there. While I think our freshmen forwards are doing great and will benefit from the extra ice, getting even one more forward back from injury will make a big difference.

I think we might. I think Wayne is going to go with who he ever feels is hotter and when that guy stumbles go with the other guy. Unless one guy really goes a long time with out stumbling I think it will be that way all year. It really is a perfect solution for an imperfect situation...

Which is why I was surprised no new goalies were brought in. Either they didn't get the goalies they were looking at or didn't try hard to get one. Obviously they will look harder for one with Ruby's graduation.

This is what frustrates me about Ruby continuing to get starts. We already know what he's capable of and after 4 years I don't think anyone expects him to suddenly come out of his cocoon and become an amazing goalie. It makes more sense to let Rotolo (or maybe MacLean) get more game action while they are younger and still have time with the team. Ruby isn't giving us a significantly better chance to win on any given night but him starting hurts Rotolo's development. And why does MacLean only get into games to clean up? You'd think that getting the nod to replace Rotolo on Friday would earn him the start over Ruby on Saturday..

With Ruby leaving they will obviously bringing in a 3rd goalie anyway, but unless they bring in a real stud we're all going to be wanting Roloto/MacLean to have starts under their belt heading into next season.

PREACH!

Ruby had his chance. This is only the begining for MacLean!

For your own sake I think you better at least come to the realization that Ruby is going to get starts. Not saying you got to like it and I am not trilled by it either. However, unless Rotolo plays lights out that is going to be the best option for winning hockey games. If Ruby can eliminate the high number of soft goals he allowed in the past I think he will be fine. I also think there there been a lot of Kool-aid drinking on Rotolo and MacLean. MacLean clearly has been brought in as a number 3 guy and has actually gotten more chances than most number 3 guys will ever get. I do see more potential with Rotolo and like his on ice demeanor a lot, but even last year I saw him just slightly ahead of Ruby and with this year starts for Mike, I see him fallen off a little. That is why I been saying that to consider either a #1 is just a mistake till one proves it...

I think this is one of the small flaws with Coach Wilson. It's a flaw that is hard to really give him criticism about. I don't think he is going to cut ties completely with a player based solely on poor performance. If you look at his over all history he really is loyal to the guys who come to play for his program. From all accounts Watson left on his own...

RIT having 3 goaltenders is going to be a concern for any potential recruit. So in reality, other than making a promise no coach wants to make on a recruit, the only option is to cut one of the 3 guys you have...

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

None of the three goalies are playing very well right now so I don't think it matters much who starts.

However, unless Ruby or, I guess MacLean, earns a start and plays lights-out then I think for a majority of starts Rotolo is the guy to play. If he starts to play poorly (or at least noticable worse than what Wilson thinks Ruby/MacLean can play) then a switch should be made. The only reason I say Rotolo should get a majority of starts is that he's not playing any worse than Ruby and he's going to be with the team longer than Ruby. His development is more important to the future of the team than Ruby's is.

Anyone have an update on the horn that was supposed to have been delivered 3 weeks ago? Hoping we can finally ditch the MP3 goal horn next week..

That was just a rumor that got spread, there is now a buyer who has a horn and location picked out, and the administration is working on construction costs.

Agree totally. As a school that has to recruit without scholarships, one of the Wilson's selling points is commitment - when you see a kid there as a freshman, he will be there as a senior. Maybe part of it is imposed on him by circumstances but I would rather think he'd be doing it even if he was coaching at any school. The team mantra is "commit to the team" and "sacrifice to the team" and for a lot of programs, this is a one-way street but Wilson walks the walk.

And yes - with 3 goalies in the program until the end of this year, they are not going to bring in another until Ruby graduates nor would there be any incentive for anyone worth considering to come at this point. Ruby inspires no confidence based on the games I have seen him in. It's like he is just trying to get in front of the puck and let it hit him. Too many shots rebound out at odd angles and he's taken many off the face. I don't see a lot of control and he almost seems like he is in over his head at times. Maclean has looked decent in the games I have seen but everyone I have spoken to tells me he is the weakest of the 3.

From what I've seen and heard so far, Rotolo is the best hope but I agree he hasn't done enough to be anointed yet. He came in and had a good run last year and made some noise but didn't play any powerhouses. And so far this year, he hasn't stolen any goals, let alone entire games. He is a sophomore so there is upside and he does have swagger and an edge. I think he needs to be fitter in order to increase his mobility. 6-1 is not a giant in nets these days so he needs quickness and mobility to challenge and recover and for lateral movement and 245 is just too big.

I would agree that the most likely scenario is Rotolo will get the biggest and best chance to be the #1 but that you will see Ruby get some chances too if Rotolo falters and the balance will depend on how consistent either of them are - win and you're in. I think Maclean will mop up games that are out of reach as he did with the AF game.

Right now this team just needs a guy who will stop the pucks that he should stop. We need to start there and move forward...

Doesn't seem to put up a lot of numbers... except those PIM :O

18 points in 18 games isn't too shabby.

Last year he was at 21 points in 52 games according to eliteprospects.

edit - I guess he is having a good start to the year now, but how are they already 18 games in? Jeez.
