Anyone know what happened to the two band members? From the other end I didn't see anything until every security, EMS, and police in the building suddenly converged there. I certainly hope they're both ok, whatever happened.

One had a seizure the other fainted. The second one is fine and they got the first guy awake but took him to the hospital to be safe.

Must have been a rookie running the TW coverage's instant replay last night. They struggled getting the replays the announcers were calling for. They missed a lot of review worthy footage. In any event, dominant performance, Garbowsky is now the leading goal and total points in the nation. Miller and McGowan are in the top 15 as well. What a line they are this year.

Garbowsky is 1, Mitchell 5, and Mcgowan 18. Pretty impressive.

Mitchell is also tied for No. 1 in the nation in assists with 13.

They scan it...

They didn't scan it when I bought my ticket yesterday. May vary depending on the staff working.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Alright... Can someone explain to me the outcome of that scuffle towards the end of the second, after that fantastic save by Ruby? It was a whirlwind of penalties. Rocky only announced 1 of the SHU got a 10 min penalty, but it looked like an RIT guy was in the box for 10 mins too? Then the bench minor on SHU? What exactly is that? I'm still learning a lot of the rules, I never played.

Also, 1st time in Pollesium, had some observations - A. No shot count? Not huge, but bothered me. B. Video boards are GREAT! But they don't beat not having a center hanging board with 4 screens. C. The recorded train horn sound is horrendous. They need to get the real one installed soon.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Each team took 2 minute minor and 10 minute misconduct for facemasking. Shortly after which shu took a too many men on the ice penalty

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Considering how out of this world the top line is playing you can't break them up. Wilson spoke on the radio about how great their chemistry was. Given how little scoring we're getting without #25, #7, or #9 on the ice it probably makes sense to put Schuler on the 2nd line so that we can maybe get some depth scoring..

As it stands RIT is being carried by Garbowsky's line and Ruby...which is great until one of them cools off.

It depends to me where Schuler is... I imagine he will not be in top shape so I see maybe a reason to put him on the second line. I really think that line has mostly been Garbowsky's doing. However... Put Schuler between Skirving and Miller would be a good line. It was good to see the second line get a goal last night. If RIT is going to put it together they need that line producing, they can not be a one line team...

So it was beyond frustrating to watch last night game. That was an absolutely unacceptable effort. I felt RIT got outworked for most of the night against Sacred Heart. The icing coming in the last minute of play when McGowan, Garbowsky, and Mitchell were all involve in a battle in the corner of the offensive end of the ice in the last minute of play. With an extra attacker they should have been able to win that puck, failed to and there went the last chance of the hockey game. Under performing is one thing, but being out work by a team like Sacred Heart is beyond frustrating and Coach Wilson showed the frustration in his post game interview. I also have to disagree with the three star selection. Give Bodnarchuk credit for stopping pucks he should, but RIT did not generate that many chances against him, and missed the net on really all but one good chance they had. I don't think he made a very difficult save all night. Story of the game was Sacred Heart outworking the Tigers all night.

Side note, when people see the replays this week, check out the second Sacred Heart goal. It sure looked to me that when the puck enter the zone and a forward for Sacred Heart fall to the ice and when he did he knocked the puck with his glove over to Minello. Now it was not intentional, but doesn't matter it still a hand pass, but was missed. Didn't really matter as much as the officiating upset me last night, RIT effort just ****ed me off more...

The first line averages 35 to 40 min. a game. They should be productive at that rate of playing time. The 2nd line plays maybe 12 to 15 min, 3rd line sparingly, 4th maybe 3 min. and usually is benched in the third period. If you look back at the two decisive wins at St. Lawerence and Air Force, RIT pretty much rolled the lines. By not rolling the lines the coaching staff is stating that they have no confidence in those players on those two lines. They are all good players that's why they were recruited. Look at the stats. Powerplay is brutal and the bottom line is their record is below .500. So do you leave it the way it is and hope the first line stays hot or get the whole team involved so you don't have to rely on 3 players like last night.

35-40 min a game? Really?

30-40 minutes a game! Ha! The best defenceman in the NHL average maybe 30+ minutes a game and they are far ahead of any forward line. There isn't a player in the NCAA that averages more than 30 minutes.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Actually it seemed to me that they were rolling the lines a lot more on Saturday than they did Friday. I think I saw the 2nd and 3rd lines combined more than the 1st, at least at even strength. Whereas in Friday's game it sure seemed like McGowan-Garbowsky-Mitchell were out there half the time. =)

I could not find, and I do not think, TOI is tracked in the NCAA ice hockey. It might be tracked by some teams but overall I do not believe it is.

However, just to elaborate further, the current TOI/GP leader in the NHL is Ryan Suter at 29:19. The top forward is Claude Giroux at 21:46. I would assume, and I think I am absolutely correct on this, that NCAA ice hockey would be similar with respect to defencemen vs. forwards TOI.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

if a forward is pulling down 40 minutes a game, 2 nights in a row, mark them down for the iron man achievement. I don't think its possible to keep that level of compete up the entire time. the possibility of injury probably goes up dramatically as well.

I am basing this off my own experience playing hockey, where my conditioning consists of post game beer however :)

I think this is due in large part to Wilson trying to find a line that was actually willing to go out there and work their *** off. By the sounds of the postgame interview, he was unable to find one and was pretty unhappy about it. He specifically called out the "leadership from the upper classmen".

Also the notion that anyone is playing 40 minutes a night is laughable and the suggestion of such should be ignored.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

One thing that does affect how often a top line skates is TV timeouts. (I know they are officially called "media timeouts" but they are there for TV broadcasts to drop in commercials. As one D&C writer quipped, "I've never needed a timeout during a game. Don't call them media timeouts.") Those allow for up to nine extra shifts a game for each team's top line.

As of last season, all conference games include TV timeouts whether there's TV or not.

So while it is certainly not 40 minutes, there could be an extra three to five minutes a game for the first line just from TV timeouts.

So just like the NHL then. ;)

Yup. And actually that's why they've put the TV timeout in at all arenas. Teams would get an advantage when they came to RIT because they'd get to roll out their top line more often than they would be able to against other teams. (Granted, RIT could as well, but for teams without a lot of depth, TV timeouts were a big boost.)

With TV timeouts, you don't have to use your 4th line, or if you have injuries, it’s a little easier to deal with. Nowadays it probably all evens out but in the days without TV timeouts, if three lines are ticking but the fourth line is in quicksand, you could be at a considerable disadvantage to a team with a deeper depth chart.

While it was fair game that coach called out the senior leadership on the Saturday night tough loss, I think some of the blame, if that's what you want to call it, can be also placed on the coach's. Sacred Heart not only out hustled RIT on the second night but perhaps also out coached them. Other than Canisius, what has RIT done on the second night of a two game series so far this year? What adjustments have they made? I know it's early and we're not in the locker room or watching the tapes, but the results speak for themselves. Teams have done better against RIT (with the exception of the aforementioned Canisius) on the second night of a two game series.

Use Sacred Heart as an example. Sacred Heart has yet to lose on the second night of a two game series against an AHA foe. Split series with wins on the second night against Army, Bentley, and RIT, and tied Holy Cross and Canisius on the second night. C.J. Marottolo and his staff obviously did not want RIT's first line to put up the numbers that they did on the first night so they adjusted and pulled out a win. Good for them. Whatever it was, it worked; Sacred Heart took 4 penalties the first game, 10 penalties the second game, maybe that took RIT out of their game. The first game was exciting with lots of wide open skating, the second game dragged on with lots of chippiness. RIT has to stick with what works for them and just not play into the hands of the other team. Show it on the scoreboard not with retaliatory penalties. Whatever style of play best fits this current group of players, I hope the coaching staff figures it out because after Yale we play a much improved Niagara and it would be nice to put together a couple of four point weekends rather than languish in the standings near a position of not hosting a first round playoff.

Speaking of Yale, whatever the outcome of the game, it would be a class act for Yale to start coaches son.

That's the old conundrum; also applies to football at halftime. The team that lost knows what it needs to change to be better. The team that won risks changing the practices that helped them win, so they tend to stand pat, especially so since they don't know what the other team will be changing.
