I just don't understand this team. They have the potential to crush AHA teams (except ROBERT MORRIS) but don't. 3-0 is great but should be expected out of this team.

They have the potential to be good - I don't know about CRUSH other AHA teams. The AHA teams are better than you think. Sacred Heart is better than last year. Army is better than last year and will provide a challenge with their goaltending.

The overall level of play in the AHA has been rising. But RIT hasn't been rising at the same time.

Does any one know who set up the corner crew tumblr page? It is very outdated and I would like to get access to it to update it with new chants in order to teach students new to sitting in corner the chants.

True observation. My view from down here at Tate Rink is that the Eastern Pod teams have greatly improved. Army, who just took three points from Holy Cross, will and have already surprised some of their AHA foes. You are correct they have a hot freshman goalie (I saw him last night) who was highly recruited out of the USHL. Amazing that Army got him, good job by their recruiting staff. Last night he matched up with Ginn of Holy Cross to finish in a 0-0 OT Tie and included stopping a penalty shot. He played with the poise of someone more experienced. I only expect him to get better. They also have some other skilled freshman out of the USHL who have made immediate impacts to Army's style of play and seem to have the upperclassmen elevating their own games.

No doubt RIT has the skills to be near the top in the AHA but like Coach Wilson mentioned, they have to continue to put 110% into their game as putting that type of effort into each and every game is one of the challenges of playing college hockey. I'm sure the coaching staff will be sure they are prepared for Sacred Heart but in no way should they think this Sacred Heart team is the same team from recent years. That said looking forward to a four point weekend if RIT plays to their potential.

I had to laugh when he said all he wants is for each player to give 110% every game. Really? Sure, asking for more than 100% effort every game isn't asking much....

I guess it is a bit cliche but the point is understood...collectively as a team or individually as a player you take the night or shift off and it will cost you a game. It's the message that Union rode all the way to the championship last year, keep moving on the ice and stay in the game.

I know what you mean mathematically.

But I think each of us can look at ourselves and think we're giving our all to whatever we do, when in all actuality there's maybe a little more left in the tank. We saw that out of RIT on Saturday. They all gave more than I think they thought they had.

That's what got RIT to the Frozen Four in 2010; it wasn't having players more skilled than Denver or New Hampshire. As Barry Melrose put it back then, "Will beats skill." If this year's team models the work ethic and work effort of its captain, they can go far.

And ... have a lot of fun doing it.

If you don't give full effort in the game, there's a good chance you will lose. RIT could have easily been blown out of the water on Friday, except Garbo gave everything. There isn't a single game on the schedule that RIT can win simply by showing up.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Ultimately Garbowsky is not only our best player but also the team's leader, and he's going to have to be the one to step up in these moments. He did the same thing against Holy Cross tying it in the final moments of play.

Even if it was just the RIT Garbowsky's beating the Golden Griffs, we have to look at 3 points on the road as a success and hopefully something to build upon. Sacred Heart is a team very similar to RIT in terms of record and results so far, so a big weekend against them would go a long way.

If Garbo was healthy, I think RIT does much better last year. He is making a case for AHA POY. My point is that we need more players to step up if RIT is going to be a factor in the AHA.

I really don't know much about military academies - but don't you have to be enlisted to attend? I would assume he had plans to be in the Army?

Any high school graduate can attend the academies, provided that they pass admissions. You're allowed to drop out during your first two years without having to commit to the academy's respective service.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

I know this is off-topic, but I swear someone here said that Pegula had to donate that money to Penn State before he bought the Sabres because of some NCAA rule or else some other conflict ... does anyone remember this/have a link? I've tried searching but I can't find anything.

With any talk about schools moving up to D1 (Arizona State is making their announcement today), UB always gets mentioned but as far as I know they don't have a big enough donor to change the program. That of course brings up Pegula, but as I said I don't think that's possible.

Wiki says he donated for the PSU rink in 2010 and bought the Sabres in 2011, which would corroborate with your theory. Everything I've read about UB is that they're currently focusing on getting football profitable.

You know when this topic comes up, I can tell the people who understand what it takes to compete at a high level vs. the people who do not...

Got to give credit to Ruby for a shutout on Saturday. Yep not the most amazing shutout by far, but nice to see for a guy who sure has not had a lot of flattering things sad about him. If he keeps the soft goal out, he will be just fine. All though I have to admit, I am not sold yet, he is flirting with me though...

I think that taking that attitude with Ruby is just setting yourself up for disappointment. It's not his first shutout..and it's not the first time he's played well in back to back games. RIT outplayed Canisius badly on Saturday...hence why they only had a pathetic 19 shots. The night before he was not exactly spectacular. He's such a head case that as soon as he does give up that first soft goal he withers and then it's all down hill.
