... and non-local media often abbreviate us to "Rochester Tech".

To be fair, other well known "Fill-in-the-blank Institute of Technology" schools do go by "Fill-in-the-blank Tech" for short. USA Today has referred to RIT as Rochester Tech since their inception back in the '80's, and that's a publication (to be generous) founded by Gannett, which is based in Rochester. You'd think they would know better.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only Denver area* alumni, but in case you haven't heard we are meeting at Blake St Tavern on Saturday for a viewing party.

I just want to stream this game online! Are there any bootleg websites that would allow me to do this?

Google "First Row Sports". There are links there that might get you where you want to go. Or there my not :)

Do we have a group for Pick'Em brackets this year? I know I joined an RIT one last year but I don't remember if it was here or through Corner Crew.

if you’re making the trek to South Bend this weekend but we’re hosting an alumni get together at Legends of Notre Dame on Saturday at 1 pm. It’s across the parking lot from the rink. If any members of the corner crew are interested, let them know they can register here:

First Row Sports is your best bet, but don't count on it. When you get on the website saturday, check the "other" section if the game is not in the Hockey section. There is pop-ups galore on the site, so you'll have to deal with that.

Other than that, you'll need to find someone with WatchESPN access - this is most anyone who pays for TV and gets ESPN. So if you have a family member with DirecTV, Dish, Time Warner, etc, ask them for their account login and you'll be golden. Most people don't know they have an "account login" and have never set it up, so it's sometimes hard to get one. My friend let me use his, but he recently got rid of cable.

Last option, is for some kind soul on here to stream ESPNU! Someone on the RIT reddit page may be more inclined to do that.

Facebook just reminded me that RIT vs Denver at the NCAA regional was five years ago today.

It has been quite the 5 years for this program. :)

This guy really did his research on RIT...not.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nhl-p...eview--another-wide-open-field-164911268.html

"No. 16 Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers (19-14-5)

Key stat: RIT had a 54.3 percent corsi rating this season. In six non-conference games, though, they were out-attempted 307-245 (44.4 percent). That means they went 56.8 percent against Atlantic Hockey teams.

Top player: Senior Matt Grabowsky is this year's “guy from Atlantic Hockey who has a gaudy point total that would impress you if it were in any other conference.” Almost a third of his games were multiple-point nights. Out-of-conference scoring: 1-1-2 in six games.

NHL draft picks: None

Quick fact: They're playing the best possession team in the country. This could get ugly."

The writer specializes in being a jerk. He's on Twitter 18 hours a day trying to make people angry.

Psh... I'm going to take that dude with a grain of salt most puck daddy articles are meant to be click bait. They really don't give proper coverage to college hockey on there any way.

In Buccigross' tournament preview show, he didn't even refer to us by name when going over the teams in the regional. We are simply "the 16th seed".

Dave Starman had some nice things to say on Twitter..
"Remember @RITMHKY last tourney appearance?Dominant top d pair of Dan Ringwald and Chris Tanev. Liking this Kuqali-Brady Norrish pairing now"
"Ringwald that season could have been a top 4 d on any team in the tourney. Tanev has become a big time NHL defenseman."

The fact that an event happening 5 years ago makes you feel old makes me feel old :p

I firmly believe that d-pairing was a minimum a top 5 pairing in the country. Ringer was 26, experienced, and still went on to AHL hockey, while Tanev was, well, Tanev. I also think if Tanev stayed (not that I think he should have - obviously going to Vancouver worked out quite well for him and I'm not one to begrudge collegiate athletes making their money while they can) then the 2010-11 edition of the team would have been a top 15 team and may have competed for an at-large bid even if they couldn't get past Torf in the AHA final.
