>>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

This is crazy.

This was more unlikely that RIT's Albany wins to me. Ruby played the game of his life. Not bad for someone who everyone wanted no part of after the Friday Robert Morris game. Either that, or this is the Ruby we thought we were getting when he came.

I have to admit, I was real down on Ruby. I'm so happy for him and the team right now. GO TIGERS

As an UNH alum at Albany, that was a hard one to take, but we were only the 3 seed in that regional. And, of course, DU was the 1 seed there, so this makes two of those upsets for the Tigers. Huge congrats! Great win for your guys and Atlantic Hockey.

We're not a small school... Actually RIT is one of the largest private schools in the United States and the endowment is slowly reflecting that. But I'm glad to see your support for the boys! ;)

I will be the first in line to beg for forgiveness. This is why I am not a coach. Ruby was the main reason RIT won!

I hope I am not getting ahead of myself but history shows RIT plays much better on the second night.

Hey, hey, HEY!!! Stop that!!! ;)

As a slightly-distanced RIT fan (and alum), I am humbled by the amount of 'outside' support. Living in a DIII-land environment (Elmira), where the NCAA selection process is WAY worse, it is great to see "Cinderella" move-on, and even better to be associated with "Cinderella".

In DIII land, the 'weaker' conferences get autobids (MASCAC, ECAC-NE), and are more-than-often eliminated early in the process. But it is good for those 'weaker' conferences that they have the possibility to "dance", and they can promote that opportunity to improve their programs... if the administration is on-board.

I am hopeful that RIT (and the AHA in-general) can continue to 'make-noise' in the NCAA's, and this can possibly lead to an improved NCAA field each year. This will, of course, be an uphill battle without athletic scholarships, but not outside the realm of possibility (see Union).

GO TIGERS!!!

Cheers!!!

Never post on this side of the board as I don't follow D1 hockey, but someone over on the D3 side said you guys knocked off the number one seed, congrats from an Oswego fan.

RIT is riding hot goaltending and stellar defense.

So excited to see what this young D core can do for the next few years. But for now, let's focus on getting to the dance!

Administration being on board is key.

What I find interesting is that when RIT joined, we were told to expect comments along the lines of AHA/C teams don't deserve to be in the NCAA tournament over more worth teams. Holy Cross broke the ice with their historic win over Minnesota. But, unless I am mistaken, Atlantic Hockey only has 5 wins in the tournament to their credit, of which RIT has 3. Games involving Atlantic Hockey teams in the tournament are more competitive, so that is a positive. When you consider where the conference was as opposed to where it is now, the improvement shows.

As for RIT, we know the administration is behind the team. We have the new arena. Improve the things they can, and RIT can become a team that contend for titles on occasion.

Second that!

Not only a HUGE win for RIT but also a little vindication for Atlantic Hockey which doesn't get much respect outside of it's own league. Also nice to see tweets from a number of other Atlantic Hockey teams (Mercyhurst, Canisius, Robert Morris, Sacred Heart, Niagara and AIC that I've seen) all of whom sent along congratulations. There's some smart folks at those schools who value and respect what RIT has done to elevate Atlantic Hockey. Today's RIT win meant a lot to Atlantic Hockey. Now get some rest boys, there is more work to do.
