>>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

I don't care what their record is, Air Force is always dangerous, especially against the Tigers.

I'll take 1 Holy Cross, please

I was dreading the prospect of RIT having to play a playoff series in CO Springs. They just hate us and you can tell with the determination in their play.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Clearly the answer is Sacred Heart. RIT should have went 4-0 on them but they decided too late to play game 2 and lost because of that.

Holy Cross is not a team I want to face because of Matt Ginn. He is arguably the best goaltender in the league. They came to RIT and took 3 points.

I'm not impressed by Air Force. RIT should have had 2 wins out in CO. Their goaltending is not very good. Their best chance of winning is to outgun teams and win high scoring games. I would rather play them instead of Holy Cross.

I think I might actually agree with komey on this one. As much trouble as Air Force has given us in the past, they don't have the goaltending they used to. And they haven't been to the GPC yet. =)

Don't forget having the officials playing on their side too!

Has Smith gotten any AHC added punishment for his "contact to the head" penalty? Looks like recent instances have garnered a 1 game suspensions.

None so far. My understanding is that Rick Gotkin would need to request this. It's not done unless that happens - the league doesn't proactively look at every penalty assessed, including majors and Game Misconducts. I don't know if there is a deadline he needs to meet to submit a review.

I was asked a question on Twitter about why the penalty was so severe on what looked like a minor penalty. Contact to the head is an automatic major and game misconduct. Refs have some discretion if the contact is indirect and can call a minor for roughing, elbowing, etc. But once they call "contact to the head", the player is out of the game.

Tigers play the winner of 6 vs. 11if 6 wins otherwise they would play the highest remaining seeded team. Bentley plays Merceyhurst at Bentley

If Holy Cross wins, RIT plays them.
If Holy Cross loses and Air Force wins, RIT will play the Falcons.
If both Holy Cross and Air Force lose, RIT plays the Sacred Heart - Army winner.

Let's stir up some discussion. RIT was picked as CHN's team of the week (and the article clearly shows why USCHO is superior - CHN says RIT is the 4th seed, and will host Mercyhurst in the quarterfinals, which we know isn't true).

http://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2015/03/04_team_of_the_week_rit.php

The part this is interesting (noting that by Lakers, they mean TBD)...
According to Wilson, he's unsure which will play against the Lakers.

"They've actually both played really well," he said. "We got into a little bit of rotating. Then, it was them playing if the other guy lost a game. It's a little bit gut, a little how they're playing the practice. Different nights, different guys are playing well. Sometimes, it's who you're playing well against in the past.

"We;ll wait until next week to make that decision, which is not me trying to hide anything. We really don't know. ... Ruby's stats are outstanding, and Mike is finding ways to win."

At this stage of the game, you have to go with the goalie who finds a way to win. To me, Rotolo has earned the nod with his play in the last 3 games - especially the Mercyhurst games. To only allow 1 goal in playoff type games is important.

Rotolo was that guy last year too and we all know how the trip to Holy Cross worked out for the team. I agree that he's the goalie to start against team 'X' but hope he can keep it together for the entire series to move the Tigers along to the BCA.

Probably the west regional, at least for now. RMU is in bracketology this week because they won the regular season, and were placed in the West regional (hosted by North Dakota, the #1 seed for now.).

Joe Venniro pointed out that Rotolo is 8-1-1 in his last ten starts.

Agreed. The only stat that counts in playoffs is W-L.

Yeah, I was assuming the thought that RIT travel wells would factor in like last time (though maybe we were ranked higher than Huntsville.. IDK).
