Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

I don't know if a move to ECAC would generate that much more attendance. College hockey fans might recognize the team names coming in, but would the casual fan? Would games against Brown be better attended than games against Sacred Heart, for example? Let's not forget that a move to ECAC would likely mean at least short term a worse winning percentage, which to me could nullify the gains of better teams.

I think this is true. Hearing that we're playing Cornell or Yale, colleges with national name recognition, would probably draw fans. But really, the bigger draw is how well the team does. After RIT's Frozen Four run, Ritter attendance definitely increased. I can remember multiple sellout games. But since then, with the declining performance over these past couple years, there just hasn't been that same level of demand. Yes I know, numbers this year are higher and the team's playing better down the stretch. But after the "newness" wears off and if our performance stays the way it has the past couple years, middle of the pack in the standings, loosing in the first round, I really don't see those attendance numbers rising.

Brutally true statement....

Teams are reseeded after the quarter finally. Most probably Holy Cross or Air Force...

One last note, the referee who waived off the goal last night, despite video evidence that seemed to suggest his call was wrong, was also part of a crew at Niagara this year that refused an RIT request to review a goal. Here is to hoping we don't see him again this year...

The thought definitely occurred to me after watching him talk to Wilson that he was going to phone in the review and not give an honest assessment. Since there appears to be no oversight or even a second ref reviewing the footage, I guess it wouldn't be too surprising if he went into that review thinking "no matter what this isn't a goal"

He also "reviewed" it for approx. 5 seconds...I thought the same

Can someone please explain to me why a school with 18,000 students and a city metropolitan area with 1.1 million can't sell out at senior night? We have a beautiful new arena and a winning team.

Does rit not advertise?

I was at RIT for my 3rd, 4th and 5th years - didn't start going to hockey games until my 4th year. I just didn't really know about it to be honest. I graduated in 2013, and in my opinion, the school didn't really do the greatest job of advertising Hockey to the students until the drive for Pollesini started - and even then, it was all "we need your money!" and it put off a lot of my friends/co-students from what I saw. I know of multiple people who don't go to the hockey games because they feel it was a waste of money and raised their tuition. I got one friend to come, only cause I bought his ticket.

The school needs to offer more free tickets (for students) just to get people to try it, to make them want to come back. The place would be packed out if they had "free student" night early in the season to give people a taste of it.

Also parking - when it's 10 degrees out, I'd rather sit at home and watch TWSC instead of parking in F-lot and walking 5ish minutes with my 11 month old. But I don't have cable, so that makes me come out. The parking situation is not good.

I hate to break it to your friends, but tuition was going up regardless of the Polli. Also, aren't there free tickets available for every game with the donation of a canned good item? Jesus $.45 for some canned green beans is a great deal for a hockey game.

Wish I knew about that! I never saw that advertised anywhere.

Students are starting to buy them now. When they started selling the quarter final round playoff tickets on Saturday there were plenty of students purchasing tickets and the ones i talked to were even paying for the reserve seats. As others have mentioned the team needs to succeed to get butts in the seats. Giving away tickets to students may help in certain cases like they did during the AIC series but even then they were GA seats. The parking issue will need to be figured out. I paid for a U lot reserve parking pass this year so I can park there on Friday's guarantee myself a spot there for the games but on Saturdays for any one that wants a spot there I have to be there before 5pm for an evening game and 2pm for the afternoon women's games cause it fills up quick with security personnel and players usually all parking there and they block off a portion of the parking along the tennis court side as well (not exactly sure who its for since it isn't handy cap parking). S lot is a nightmare to leave from unless you wait for almost 30 minutes after the game is over to head there. I have no clue how d lot is but since Ritter is now being used for high school games it might be a headache as well.

Can anyone clue me in as to why it shouldn't have been goaltender interference? I just watched the replay on the SZ highlights and Mitchell definitely brushed aside Wildung's glove hand a split-second before the puck got there.

How in the world did RMU retain the #20 spot with the last 2 weeks they had..?

They didn't move much in the PWR, so maybe that's all the coaches looked at?

"paying" for reserved seats like they're so expensive ..... playoff seats for students are $5

D lot was okay earlier in the season but the past two weeks with Freezefest and whatever was at the fieldhouse have been a disaster.

(Edit - Why can't we insert images on here?)

Because about a year ago, people on other parts of the Fan Forum were posting pictures that Google AdSense found objectionable and our advertising with them was suspended for several days. Faced with the prospect of losing 90% of our revenue, we at USCHO opted to prevent posting of images.

Yeah it was a pretty obvious and correct call to me. I'm ok with no minor penalty because the contact wasn't significant and he was slightly herded into the crease (simply by the defenseman holding his ground), but it was quite obvious Mitchell tried to cut through the middle where there wasn't room to go, was in the crease, and caused incidental contact with the goalie before the puck got there. The review took 5 seconds because that's all it should have taken to confirm it. Let's not create conspiracy theories here.

I missed the replay during the game, but after seeing the replay online, I agree it was the right call.

I know some of you have the "best case scenario" for RIT. Who should RIT be rooting for this weekend?

I think both Holy Cross and Air Force will give RIT a run for their money, though I would rather see Holy Cross in the GPC.

I don't care what their record is, Air Force is always dangerous, especially against the Tigers.

I'll take 1 Holy Cross, please
