>>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Does anyone know if there are updated designs for the new rink out there?

Haven't seen anything new that hasn't already been posted here, perhaps some of the folks closer to the action can respond, at this point I'm just watching the webcams and trying to envision what it is going to look like when it is complete. Certainly moving along now..:)

I'm thinking we need a pedestrian bridge from the SAU. =)

I know this information was given out, but I can't seem to find it or remember. What sections are the season ticket holders and corner crew in for the Frozen Frontier game? Thanks!

Season ticket holders: Sections 203-209 (Source: rithockey.com Men's season ticket info page https://rithockey.com/Online/defaul...3A6-4E2748EB9FC3,p0/OQAdL/MpB0yPFUFCErrGXjNE=)

Corner Crew: Section 201 (and I think 202) (Source: https://www.facebook.com/ritcornerc...comment_id=27348527&offset=0&total_comments=5)

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

So I'm not typically one to complain on here, but I have to say I am pretty unhappy with this whole ticket buying process this year. I have a child under 5 and therefore because of this I had to purchase the Ritter Only season tickets so that I could get him a seat at the Blue Cross and Frozen Frontier games by purchasing them separately. Frozen Frontier tickets went on sale today, so I went to the Field house box office to buy tickets. I asked for section 204 or 205 and they said those are currently locked for season ticket holders only. I said I was and they said the sections are locked for people who buy season tickets now or purchased the full package. I said, so you're telling me if I waited to buy my season tickets until today I could sit in those sections? Yes they said. I explained my situation and they said they understood and agreed with me but no one there had the authorization to override the system and they weren't sure who did. Annoyed, I ended up choosing a different section. Then I was told I had to pay the full adult price for my under 5 child because it's only Adult or RIT Student pricing. Then give me the student price, the child is under 5. Can't do that, so I had to pay the full $25 for my under 5 child which I think is absolutely ridiculous. And don't get me started on the fact that you can only add the Women's season ticket package at the box office. It seems like a pretty simple solution, you allow season ticket holders with kids under 5 to add on an under 5 season ticket package to their order, and the code to allow the add on of the women's ticket deal to the website seems pretty simple to me. RIT is a technology school, why can't they figure this out?

What's the best Marriott brand hotel to stay at around RIT? Will be out there to cover game in October. Thanks.

There's a nice Residence Inn a few miles down the road from campus (I'm biased because I used to work there). http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/rocny-residence-inn-rochester-henrietta/

There's also a Court yard not too far away http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/rocch-courtyard-rochester-brighton/

It depends on what you mean by "best". =) The Del Monte in Pittsford is a Renaissance, which is a Marriott brand. It's a 20-minute drive from RIT, but it's the only 4-diamond hotel in the county.

Sorry should have been more clear. I looked on my Marriott app and tried to do some googling to figure out what would be closest. Thanks.

The lack of thought put into meeting the needs of families was disappointing. I too was forced to choose Ritter only tickets because it was the only way to get seats at BCA and FF for my three year old. And because I bought the tickets separately I ended up paying $5 more per adult. I also had to buy tickets three times, instead of once, on three different days. It's pretty clear there just wasn't enough thought put into this.

While it may not have been perfect, I personnally was greatly relieved that there was the Ritter-Only package. I think they added in quite a bit of flexibiltiy this season that they didn't necessarily have to. I am so glad that I did not have to spend $13 to purchase a seat at Frontier for one of my kids the way I do at Ritter. If the weather's horrible I'm not making a 6 or 4 year old sit out there for 2 or 3 hours. Plus I wasn't thrilled with the sections they selected for season seat holders for either BCA or Frontier, so would rather select them for myself.

Which game are you covering in October? If it's the Michigan game, that's not at RIT, but at Blue Cross Arena in downtown Rochester (if that affects your hotel location choice any).

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

My guess, and I am in no way condoning or condeming it, is that RIT simply does not care enough about people with very young children to make the necessary adjustments to the ticket purchasing system. Again, this is just a guess, but in reality how many people does this affect? If I am reading this correctly, it only effects season ticket holders who have a child under 5 and want to take said child to the BCA and/or Frontier game. I doubt that is a high number of people and I would think it is a very small percentage of the season ticket holders. While I certainly understand the complaints and I would probably feel the same way, I can understand from an effort/economic standpoint why it was ignored or overlooked. Heck, maybe it was a scheme to get people with young children to buy them a season ticket for Ritter too? Stranger decision have been made at RIT.

Have you shared this concern with the "powers that be" at RIT? It could be that they hadn't anticipated this problem and could make adjustments for next year :)
