>>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

Fifth!!!

Brutal, but probably fair. Let's hope it is some motivation for an early start to winning ways in the conference schedule (and beyond).

I'll have my preview up on our site in the next week, but a few thoughts I had on the poll:

- Air Force ranked too high, even Coach Serratore said he thought his team was ranked on history, reputation.
- Bentley has a ton of offense coming back, all six d-men return, they could be higher than predicted if the Falcons play better team D
- RIT coach Wilson said his team has always been more of an offensive team, which is interesting and very honest. Most coaches try to talk about team D. I think RIT will be somewhere between 2-6 come March.

"Brutal"? Lest we not forget...that's actually three spots higher than they finished last season.

Why can't I see these renderings?

#1 - Upgrade from IE6 to a new version :)
#2 - Try using Chrome (Last Resort)

There is a red and gray botton on their page, click on each to see a different view!

Just a heads up, tickets for the BCA homecoming game are expected to sell out next week if not sooner, so if you have been holding out for whatever reason, now would be the time to buy.

I meant brutal for me to read. As I said, probably fair. I'm hoping/believing that last year was the anomaly. I'll boldly predict a top 4 finish. Anyone else care to make a pre-season prediction? No need to justify them ... I sure can't.

I'll play your little game. #2 this year as they say 'adios' to the Ritter!

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

I'll play.... I'm going to say 6th. Just because I'm a pessimist and I didn't like what I saw last year.

First. Niagara is primed for a fall and RIT is primed to have a strong recovery. This will be our third straight good recruiting class, we've got a full roster for a change, and no one wants the last games at Ritter to be losses.

Thanks for your insight. Do you have a pick then?

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

If Ticketmaster is accurate, it looks like fewer than 100 seats left for the BCA game. (Since there aren't more singles showing up, I don't think it is accurate.)

Back to my pick the league finish game ... I was too easy on myself by only saying top 4. If we are guessing the exact finish, I'll go with #1 (I just have a feeling.)

Note: I really believe top 4 and after that I would almost say that any of the 4 slots are equally likely.

Since it will likely be as close of a race as it has been the last couple seasons, I'll predict by groups where the teams in each group could easily finish anywhere within their group (listed alphabetically). I know, it's lame but any prediction of exact places is a random shot in the dark in this league.

Group 1, First through Fifth place:
Air Force
Connecticut
Holy Cross
Mercyhurst
Niagara

Group 2, Sixth through Tenth place:
AIC
Bentley
Canisius
Robert Morris
RIT

Group 3, Eleventh and Twelfth place:
Army
Sacred Heart

For the sake of playing the game, I will take a stab at RIT's final standing and predict 7th place. I certainly hope after we see what kind of team they have through the first half of the season I will be inclined to bump that prediction up a bunch of notches, but for now based on what we all saw last year I have to low-ball them.

I saw a twitter post yesterday that they expect to sell out by next week.

Edit: not twitter...it was on this page in fact.

How about this! "Road wins, quality wins get boosts in changes to NCAA tournament selection criteria":

http://www.uscho.com/2013/09/20/roa...hanges-to-ncaa-tournament-selection-criteria/

Could be quite good news for us and others.

This is huge. It will help the smaller teams out more since they will get get road games. I don't see this affecting the Minnesota, Michigans, and North Dakota of the college hockey world.

They may deem is worthwhile to travel on over to us smaller schools now...

Re: >>> RIT Tigers - 2013 Offseason: The Future Looks Bright <<<

It should help some to get larger schools to travel but I don't think it will be as great a factor as others think. And it could actually hurt lower teams if they lose at home to higher teams. If I understand it correctly (& I might not), say for this season, if RIT loses to Michigan it will be a 1.2 loss, but if they went to Ann Arbor and lost it would be a 0.8 loss. So, while it could encourage "better" teams to travel it could end up hurting "lesser" teams in terms of at-large bids.
