Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

I was at the game, the shots were greatly exaggerated. If reversed, they would have been more believable. We actually laughed out loud when they were announced.

I actually think the shot were accurate the more telling stat if kept would have been scoring chances. Niagara took every open look shot on Watson they got in the first two periods last night. RIT kept giving them those looks from out high or at odd angles and Watson kept making the saves. Niagara held the puck for better looks in the third and the shots went way down. Hopfully I get no RIT Goaltending hate mail for this comment, but Watson played well I won't say he stood on his head, but I am never easy on goaltenders, just ask Ryan Scott...

When you consider who RIT had out of the lineup you have to feel very good about this game, especially if Reid had a little faster hands they may have won that game last night. This team is coming around nicely and looking forward to the second half. The Blue line has cut down on mistakes and been doing a great job of limiting good chances and the give aways have gone down, but still needs to go lower. The goaltending is proving its good enough to give you a chance to win. Get people healthy and this team is where I beleived they should have been at the begaining of the season. In the end I think they are going to be in the thick of thing, at worst a home playoff series in the first round and a handful for anyone in the quarters and if they get to Blue Cross will have a chance if they can play two good games...

I have to give a little credit to the officals last night, not perfect, but they did an alright job. Also I have to say I just hate Niagara's rink. Seats are too shallow. People move around too much and as always its way to silent there. But that what happens when everyone care more about a Basketball team beating up a nobody. Gotta give Burky credit, he has half the passion in the following of his team, but they bring in good talent...

And thanks for the link but put it in the thread so we can watch it!

Just watch what I got on DVR from Weds game, Kevin Sylvester did a nice job he actually seemed to put a little research for the game. Kind of cool that he did the game, I do believe he is going to be the guy who takes over for Rick Jenneret one day. Andrew Peters is a clown but he is not bad for a guy who used to be the biggest punching bag in the NHL...

Funny you should say that while I was watching the first intermission I told my girlfriend the only thing Peter's is good at is getting punched in the face :)

That's the local television broadcast. There is an AmericaOne stream but the quality is awful in comparison.

AmericaOne is always awful. At least until they overnight a highly powerful computer to handle the awesomeness of your school's stream. Needless to say, we went independent after that. ;)

It baffles me why the league goes with them and why the member schools don't do something. I've found dealing with them from the broadcaster end to be a rather unpleasant experience as well.

Looks like Uconn was left off a New England team PWR ranking lol

http://thehockeywriters.com/combine/new-england-college-hockey-power-rankings/

Well, it is a top ten and Holy Cross is the only AHA team on there. Sacred Heart, AIC, and Bentley are also missing for that matter, as are Maine, Northeastern, Vermont, Brown.

One, first mover in the business. Who else had this concept before them?
Two, all inclusion. They don't just cover hockey; most other sports are streamed.
Three, national recognition. These are more a product of the first two, though.
Four, bandwidth. The same reason why A1 is awful, but it's not like RIT wouldn't be able to solve that.
Five, season package. You get all the schools on the system, and you can sell a package for not only the home games, but also away games.

A number of ECAC schools have independent streams. Yale does a free webcast through Youtube (along with a very attractive PBP commentator), RPI obviously has RPI-TV while using WRPI's call, and I think Cornell's and Quinnipiac's are also independent. Does RIT have a television broadcasting club on its campus, and are they the ones that do the AmericaOne coverage?

RIT has an entire HD production truck, switcher and cameras that they've invested well into six figures into. The RIT broadcasts are produced by the university, by a crew consisting of professionals and students. RIT also produces a weekly half-hour sports program.

AmericaOne takes the center ice camera feed from the HDTV broadcast and uses our radio commentary for the audio.

I actually really enjoy the radio commentary far more than the TV. However, I don't like that I only get one view for the game, no replays, and I get to listen to "behind the scenes" chatter when the you guys or some production guy is talking. It seems like every time you come back from commercials it's after the Bugaboo Creak ad... does that guy have to remind you every time? lol

Knowing that, I'm surprised you haven't decided just to convince the athletic department not to renew the contract and instead run the stream in-house. That's what we did. Granted, we went through some "questionable" matters to get there (such as a bootleg stream), but I think the best way to go about it is if you can prove to the AD that your quality of stream is better (we used archive footage for that), the alumni want to see a much better product, and that the revenue generated through AmericaOne is not substantial enough to outweigh the benefit of a better quality stream that you could use to attract recruits.

Granted I've never seen A1, but from what I saw of the Youtube clips here, this stream quality is impressive, and you should consider running it live.

Believe me, we have tried and the hockey program itself has tried.

Let me add, I have absolutely no say in the matter.

I'm sorry to hear you don't have the support of the administration in this matter.

Just an FYI, there is a Justin.TV stream being ran by a fantastic Rochest'onian for every RIT game televised.

Both goals were pretty pretty. On the first one, Schuler did a great job stealing the puck and keeping it in the zone, but how he got that blind pass off to Lynch is beyond me. And the second goal was textbook 3-on-2. Split the defense and let the center go one-on-one with the goalie. More please.

You have to wonder if we'd had twelve forwards if we might have had more left at the end of the game... yet they never looked tired.

You'd have to somehow come up with a revenue stream to replace what AH is getting from America One. I'm sure the conference gets a stipend from A1 (not the sauce which is much better) to be the sole provider of online content for the leagues hockey games. It's too bad AH doesn't hold them to some quality standards.

If RIT could come up with a PPV option for it and ship some of those fees to AH, they might consider such a plan but I'm sure A1 would object. It'd be a tough battle to fight not knowing what contract A1 has with AH. I think it would only work if all the teams come up with the same plan and shut-out A1 altogether.

20 days and counting to the next game
