You know if she played hockey I'd be ok with that.

Doesn't Rochester also have an Indoor Soccer team there? I know Syracuse just recently obtained an expansion team.

Yes they do, the Rochester Lancers. This will be their first season.

Very cool. Syracuse now has the *shudders at nickname* Silver Knights. However it's nice to see both of our cities expanding our professional sports, even if most of it is minor league.

You mean send them to the Eastern time zone. Alabama is in the Central time zone.

Doh, you're right. I thought they were in the Eastern timezone. :o

How about the Wall Rink at Insalaco Stadium? Not that either of them made any real money playing professionally.

I'd be fine with Haywood Jablome Arena if Mr. Jablome donated $15M to RIT for the cause ...

If someone is willing to donate the needed $10-12 million to get this team a new arena, I wouldn't give a rats *** what they play, or who they are.
Although playing Women's soccer is unlikely to have netted her enough to be donating that kind of money.

The best bet for getting 10-12 million in a single donation is still "Tom Golisano Ice Arena" :)

And like he doesn't have his name on enough buildings at RIT, in Rochester for that matter.

Looks like Raymond made the Binghamton Senators roster, and Brenner will be with the Marlies. Tomorrow night when RIT takes on Niagara, two former Tiger might be facing each other down in Binghamton.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Excalibur sports has a piece on the 12th team for Hockey East. They cover the usual suspects (RPI, Quinnipiac, & UConn) they also include RIT in the discussion. That makes little sense to me as to why HE would want to extend their footprint to WNY (Considered the frontier by most New Englanders), or why RIT to would possibly even consider that much of a step up in competition. Maybe in 10 years, but now????

The most interesting part was the last couple of sentences of the RIT discussion quoted below.

The last piece is their reputation; not many schools in AHA actually like having RIT other than for competition purposes. That’s a telling sign of what might happen if they leave.

I also like this comment:

Rochester is a less than desirable location. It’s west of Albany, making it a long bus ride for every school. The bus rides from UNH and Maine are absolute nightmares compared to RPI or Quinnipiac, or just about everyone for that matter. It’s actually closer to the Great Lakes than it is to Boston, which is a problem.

Let's see -- Rochester is 400 miles by car to Boston and from Rochester to Lake Ontario is … ZERO. How about that.

I find the lack of fact checking on that site a bit much. I believe in their AHA preview, they mentioned the Tigers still had Tyler Brenner when it is obvious he was gone. They also say that RIT holds 2,500.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I've been following the site quite a bit in the last month - they've gotten several issues wrong with us at Bentley too. I think it's still in its infancy, so hopefully it gets better. Either way, we never get any coverage, so I'm just happy the Bentley name is out there!

Now to my real reason for coming onto your board - thinking of coming out to RIT this year for some games when Bentley's on the road. Any suggestions on places to stay that's close to the rink/places to eat?

RIT is at the western end of a major commercial strip in Henrietta, just a couple of miles south of Rochester proper. There are a number of hotels in the vicinity, including one that's effectively right on campus (Radisson Hotel Rochester Airport). RIT also owns a hotel a couple of miles southeast of campus, the RIT Inn and Conference Center.

For food, you can find just about anything on Jefferson Road east of campus. (Honestly, on-campus food is surprisingly decent, too.) Lovin' Cup is a nice little bistro on the corner of campus. Sticky Lips BBQ Juke Joint just opened -- great BBQ. You can get a famous Rochester Garbage Plate at Nick Tahou's; they've got a location on West Henrietta Road. If you want a sub, go to DiBella's Italian Market. If you can't decide what you want, head to the Marketplace Mall's food court, or find a Wegmans supermarket somewhere -- they've got a Market Cafe with subs and pizza and Chinese and wings and all sorts of other takeout food.

Thanks for the input! I used trusty google and came up with Sticky LIps - any time there's BBQ, I'll probably be there... haha

By the way I was looking over some of your comments and surfed the web tongiht, and came up with this article, also from Excalibur Sports. It talks about hockey fans and the like. But it's an admission of some faults in place by the editor, so I'm thinking they've really screwed up some things. Just to put a final stamp on things.

What are you guys expecting from your game this weekend?

We haven't beaten Niagara in over 14 1/2 years, granted we've only been playing them since the '05-'06 season following their move to DI. It should be a very good game and I think I may smell a win....
