I'd be willing to have a terrible basketball team if it meant a greatly improved hockey team.

They are determining when they will officially move up. If they are going to do it next season, they may be making sure they can get games. Otherwise, they will do it the following year.

Man, where do you get this info?

Okay, I'm just surprised no one has picked up on this "RIT convinced the NCAA" news.

Yeah I wonder how they convinced them or what RIT has to do get women's team moved up. I think it will be awesome if they win the national championship then move the next year. I wonder if that has ever happened before in the NCAA.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

I realize I'm jumping the gun a bit, but I'm curious - since the women hosted the national championship last year, IF (again, big if, long way to go) they finish the season at the top again this year, can/would they be allowed to host again this year? Any precedent for this? Not sure if the NCAA has a rule specifically forbidding it, or if they just wouldn't do it. Might make it a good year for a Western team to host then?

Hope to see the men turn things around this weekend and start a long run of wins.

I do not believe one school can host two years in a row. They also have a rule where the frozen four has to go to west once every four years but that isn't an issue since it was out west two years ago. They are actually going to a neutral site for it either this year or next year, I don't remember which.

Nah nah nahhhh nahnah, HEY! WE SUCK!

A 3-2 loss to a good UCONN team means we suck?

I guess I'll just forget the sweep of Holy Cross and the beating of Air Force.

If you had said our special teams suck, that I could get behind.

Apparently we suck at boarding without getting caught! Isn't this the third straight game with a boarding penalty?

Okay, I'm just surprised no one has picked up on this "RIT convinced the NCAA" news.

Other than discussing it with Lou Spiotti (RIT's AD) in a radio interview with him, I'm not sure there's anything more to do about it on the radio side. All it is is a decision by the NCAA that teams don't need to go D-III to D-II and then D-I in a sport if the NCAA doesn't offer a championship at the D-II level. The timing and even the decision whether or not to go to D-I rests with RIT.

Seriously? Parts of their game needs help. They're looking for a couple scorers to replace Brenner and Favot. Some players don't look like they are ready for that role as a key go-to player.
But to say the team sucks, is just wrong. We've been spoiled with the amount of wins and success the team has had the past couple of years. Now as fans we're experiencing and .500 season. But there's still plenty of hockey to be played, so don't be so quick to hit the panic button. It seems that every team gets so excited to play RIT, we (fans) bring an atmosphere to every arena and the other teams in the AHA get fired up to play in front of a crowd. The team is inconsistent right now, I'm sure that will be fixed as the season goes on.

But to say the team sucks, no absolutely not. I won't go there. Now if you want say the refs suck, I will get on board.

Lets go Tigers! get the win today, and come back with a road split.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

At what point does the number of losses become unacceptable? At what point is it too late to say "they'll get it turned around later"? Given the success we've had, I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed with an apparent regression in scoring touch.

But more importantly... if the ref says "no goal", and the linesman says "no goal", but the goal judge watching the visiting team's net says "goal"... how is that a goal?

I'm certainly not blaming any radio personalities for not publicizing this more (though I would like to hear that interview). It just seems like this sort of thing should have been big news, on these message boards if nothing else. If it was and I missed it, I apologize. I even posted a thread about the moratorium expiration in the women's section. There just seems to be a lot less chatter about the expiration than there was when the moratorium was imposed.

From my angle it was a goal, so I'm not mad about them getting something right. It hit right behind the post and bounced out.

That RIT has not won a road game yet is very concerning. THAT has to turn around, especially since after AIC, the Tigers will not be home until the end of January. I figure teams need about 35 points minimum to win the AHA title.

To be disappointed in scoring is certainly valid. For whatever reason, they have not been able to finish plays. It's pretty clear that Brenner has not been replaced by anyone at this group at this time. One thing I would consider is putting Burt and Lynch on the same line. Lynch was helped by having great talent on his line, and while I am not disparaging the players on his line now, I think he needs a boost. This would also help Burt since I think Lynch can be a good player to set linemates up, whilch would free Burt up to score more.

As we've only played 1/3rd of the season, I can't see how somebody's pulled out the 'We Suck' bandwagon. Sure, there's lots to fix but still, we're sitting 4th in the conference with a lot of ice ahead of us.

True, losing sucks, regardless of what it's about but you can't have the expectation that you are going to win every game or a majority of your games every year, that's just not logical. Every team, regardless of the sport has it's up years and it's down years, it just happens.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

At what point does the number of losses become unacceptable?

Deciding that something is unacceptable implies that action will be taken when that boundary is crossed. So, if the number of losses has become "unacceptable", does that mean that you will no longer be a fan of RIT hockey? Are you expecting others to come to the same conclusion and wash their hands of the team, the program and the school?

That, to me, would be "unacceptable".

I completely agree... either you're a loyal fan or you're not. I admit it's hard to watch our team get defeated in any game, conference or not. But I'm not going to stand in judgement of them and say it's "unacceptable". Fans will support their team in good times and in bad... and especially when they need it.
