What has really impressed me is Scott Knowles play these past two weekends. I'm not sure he got on the scoresheet against Army, but he is one of the best forechecking and defensive forwards in the league.

That was certainly a good RIT effort, but there were a few passes that left my head scratching as they seemed to be right on the Air Force defenders stick like they were passing it too him. They clean that up and then look out.

Absolutely; It's clear that RIT has done a lot of work in practice to fix some of their more glaring mistakes from early in the season.

Has anyone else noticed that RIT is taking far fewer penalties this year than in previous seasons? Not to mention that some of the penalties that RIT has taken have resulted from questionable officiating. So overall, I think RIT is playing a smarter brand of hockey while keeping the intensity up (at least recently).

I've noticed the lack of penalties. If you look historically, RIT gets a lot of penalties when other teams attempt to "goon it up". When other teams don't get chippy, RIT rarely does.

Well, this weekend went 0-2. This couldn't be a better weekend for RIT. If RIT goes 2-0 next weekend at home it will be game on for RIT and for the AHA. I don't understand it but Madalora is the glue that holds RIT together.

Anyone else think RIT plays better without Burt?

I don't. You don't make your offense better long term by taking out someone who has scored over 100 points in his career. He also is good on defense. The RIT offense still isn't clicking like it should. All the shots they poured on Air Force and they still only scored twice (I'm not counting the empty net goal). If RIT is going to make a run at another AHA title, they are going to need Burt to produce. They are pretty good without him, but they are better with him.

Maybe AF wasn't on this weekend, they lost to Mercyhurst 3-2 yesterday after going down 3-0.

They are only significantly better if the good Burt shows up. The problem with him is he is very inconsistent. It's not like he ever out and out sucks, it just that one game he can dominate play and the next game he is no where to be found.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Just a thought here. When you're up by two goals, and on the PK, you might want to avoid knocking the stick from the opposing goalie's hands. The resulting 5 on 3 gave up momentum, and allowed AF back in the game. Not a good penalty to take. To the radio guys, if you'll allow me a pet peeve. The term you need to use is "champing at the bit". Champing is an impatient equine behavior. Horses do not chomp on the bit, or chomp at the bit.

I just looked at the AHA standings... what's going on with Sacred Heart? 0-10-0??

That was a pretty bone headed penalty to take.

Yep. Bone headed indeed.. however.. quite hilarious. It almost as if Taylor said, "You know what? I haven't had enough penalties this year... I should do something stupid"

In his defense, Taylor had not been in the box yet that evening. :) I do find it interesting that a goalie can do all sorts of stuff with his stick to force players to go way around him and then draw a penalty. Feola clearly hesitated before making the call - I can only wonder if it is because it was Taylor - otherwise it was quite harmless.

While we might not miss this kind of action from McReynolds, we will all miss his intensity next year.

To be fair, he's wised up a lot and takes far fewer penalties in his "old age" than when he was a freshman.

I recall listening to the WITR guys last year or the year before talking about him. Apparently Hills really pushed for him because he felt we "needed a convict". If you check his numbers in Juniors they were 260, 200, and 140 minutes in the SJHL and USHL. You have to admit the guy busts his hump out there.

Potts 4 goals came in 2 games, so I'm not sure of the impact he was making. Not that RIT couldn't use his scoring.

IF RIT is going to the NCAAs and beyond, Shane Madolora will be key.
