I would say that teams have discovered that they can get under Burt's skin and maybe he tried TOO hard, causing some bad plays.

How many goals/assists did those seniors somebody wanted to get rid of get in our two wins this weekend? How many stars of the game? Hmm, someone needs a head check!

Great, fantastic effort by the Tigers tonight. They hung tough even when Bentley poured it on and put the game away in the 3rd. That was Tiger hockey.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

Last two nights I was very happy with RIT plays, with the exception of the 1st OT period last night I thought RIT clearly was the better team. The Seniors stepped up big time. Third Period tonight was the best great to see Mads get a shutout in his last home game. Hope someone got Cameron Burt kissing the logo at center on his way out, that a mental picture I will take to my grave... Some one will need to explain the McReynolds 5 minute major to me, just saw it on the replay and it probably was boarding but not a charge. He did not take extra steps nor leave his feet, collision was so violent maybe they just went with that, but anyway it matters not.

I think the key difference last two night was the Tigers was more physical and goes like one I called out Adam Hartley really stepped up and won some battles. I'd like to see Hartley out fight someone at Blue Cross infront of the net for a goal and then I will gladly take a whip cream pie in the face from him, my wife says its only fair, but for some reason she wants to help him...

Bentley won some well deserve respect this weekend, but RIT won another trip to Blue Cross. Time to beat Niagara, we need a sign for Friday that reads "This Ends Now"!

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

They really played well tonight. Defensive play, more than offense, is going to detirimine how far this team can go at the BCA and beyond. They limited chances, especially in high traffic areas, in a big way tonight. That has to continue, because they still aren't going to win any shootouts. Good to see them score some dirty goals in front the last couple of nights as well, starting with Burt's OT goal last night.

I think we need a sign that says "It Wasn't Tipped" posted right behind Burkholder. Bonus points if whoever does it can make it look like a thought bubble and someone else gets a good picture. I realize most of us (including myself) were not at the 4 OT semifinal loss to Union, but that's no reason to pull our shots.

Union's goal scorer that night: Gil Egan. (Despite Burkie's pleas, it wasn't tipped. He got beat. I was there. And went home sad.)

Gil Egan's shot is at 9:15 or so of this video:

I'm pretty sure that No. 2 for RIT is Tommy Herstad. Doesn't seem like he tipped it.

I agree. He honestly hasn't added all that much this year. Since the Frozen Four, he's declined, as much as I hate to say it. (Bring on the criticism.)

RIT has scored 97 goals this season and Burt has gotten credited points on 31 (8G 23A) of them. That's about 32% of the team's offense. That doesn't look like slacking to me

I agree, that was not charging. I don't think it deserved a major either. And the proof that I'm right: John DiTulio said it was the right call

I thought it was a minor boarding call, watching on TV. The refs seem to randomly throw out majors, I don't know maybe to keep people on their toes. Frankly half of the "majors" wouldn't even be called minors in the NHL.

I retract my statement. I thought I had deleted that as soon as I posted it and actually thought about what I was saying.

Also, someone should make T-Shirts of Burkholder circa 1984 from the image around the 1:00 mark. Or better yet, campaign style posters saying it was not tipped

Yeah, but at least College Hockey doesn't have big brother Brendan Shanahan watching...

I get the sense that most people here believe that RIT was clearly a superior team, that they just didn't play well Friday, and Saturday late. I would submit that these two teams are quite evenly matched, perhaps more so than many might think. They played each other 5 times this season (which constitutes are good sample size, IMO), and 4 of those games were one goal victories (removing ENGs). Sunday's 3-0 RIT victory is as far apart as these two have gotten.

I'm not claiming Bentley is in anyway superior to RIT at all. Simply that these two teams are quite close to being equal, with a slight advantage to RIT. Ergo, the talk of RIT simply getting caught not playing to their potential might not be entirely correct.

shiegs: I don't get that sense. There is a lot of happiness and relief over yesterday's win and I would say that RIT was the superior team yesterday. However, I think Bentley is equally capable of beating RIT 3-0 on any given day. Yesterday was just RIT's day and I think many here feel that RIT played better in game 3 ... I don't think that is contradictory to anything you mentioned. Remember Bentley and RIT were only separated by 1 point across the regular season. This very easily could have gone Bentley's way in the first OT on Sat. Then all us RIT fans would be lamenting getting swept in the Ritter! That's how close it was.

No doubt Bentley is a force to be reckoned with and it appears that will grow.

Would be nice if there was a Brendan Shanahan evaluating the refs at least. I swear "short Ernst" is the least professional official I have seen at any game for any sport

Quoted for truth. Watching the first Saturday OT, Bentley was inches away from closing out the series and RIT's season several times.

I don't think you can watch Friday's game and tell me that RIT did not get caught not playing to their potential. It all comes down to how much of an advantage can be called "slight", and that's going to vary from person to person.

Certainly Bentley is coming along nicely, and they will be a force to be reckoned with. And I think some of what you're detecting is a disappointment in RIT's play relative to previous years, not just relative to this year. That's not a reflection on Bentley's current team and whether they're evenly matched with the current RIT team, just that our expectations are high.

It's okay to be proud of your team and I don't think anybody was putting the Falcon's down but after years of moving forward and playing at a higher level, there is an expectation amoung the Tiger fans that they team should do well against everybody. If you followed the Tiger's this year, you'd have seen that potential and then again, you would have seen mind numbing losses\ties too.

Friday was a big let down for most, probably because of the way the Tiger's played leading up to the end of the regular season and they saw it as a continuation of that play.

Saturday was better, minus the 3rd period and Sunday showed their full potential.

I suspect that you will be having these same expectations of the Falcon's going into next year and then, you'll understand how most of the posters feel about the Tiger's and what's written on this forum.

Any of the top 8 teams in the league could have made it to the BCA and any of the remaining 4 have the potential to walk away from the BCA next Saturday night and into the NCAA's. I don't think there's a fan out there who's not going to be nervous going into their games.
