Not really, we can always add a game, play Colorado College in an OOC game if that's the case, or go to Denver, and play the university of Denver and then go to Colorado Springs for the AFA game.. schedule would depend on if the game is on a friday or saturday.. if the AFA game is on saturday, go to Denver, then AFA or if its Friday, Play AFA then colorado College (not to be confused with U of Colorado)

Could also play AFA twice and predetermine which one is the conference game. Teams like St. Lawrence and Clarkson often play nonconference games against each other.

I think our OOC games are getting lined up for the next couple of years - not sure if they took Denver and CC options into account, but it would depend on their availability and willingness to play RIT.

It has been a good rivalry to date - I could see us playing them a forth game as OOC to round out a weekend.

That AIC, Bentley, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Army, UConn East division is going to be a powerhouse !!!!

Of course, that's only if they keep the divisions true to geography.

While keeping the divisions to geography is logical, it is also asinine. When you have AIC, Bentley, Holy Cross, Sacred Heart, Army, and UConn in one division and RIT, Mercyhurst, Air Force, Niagara, Robert Morris, and Canisius in the other your just asking for a massive gap between the two divisions. Hopefully they already thought of this and have a better plan than geography as to map out the divisions.

Maybe the plan is to run the first round of the playoffs by having all the matchups across divisions (e.g. 1W v. 6E, 2W v. 5E, etc.).

That way, all the west teams could play each other in the second round!:D

Pink Hockey ... did you all know about this???

http://ambassador.rit.edu/bca/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1269&Itemid=23

It happened to see one of the pink jerseys go by at the rink this afternoon. Should be an interesting sight and I think I heard somewhere that the jerseys would be auctioned off after the game.

Somehow a pink Cameron Burt jersey seems poetic ... or oxymoronic, not sure.

its a womens/mens double header day (January 30), both teams will be wearing pink. All jerseys will be auctioned online (i believe the auctions run from the wednesday before through the sunday or monday after).

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

The divisional split would make a lot more sense to me if the people running this hullabaloo grew a pair and decided to split into 2 conferences in an attempt to get an additional autobid.

With the CHA's autobid going away it pretty much means another .500 team from a Big 4 will make the dance. They don't need the recruiting help that our conference does. My proposition would be to take RIT, Niagara, Mercyhurst, Army, AFA, and BobbyMo as one split and leave the others. Write it into each leagues bylaws that if the other is in danger of folding deals will be made to save them (avoid the CHA collapse catastrophe that put everyone in this situation.)

People I've talked to about this before disagreed with how I would line up the leagues thinking that stacking the Powerhouse teams with RIT would be bad for them. My counterargument was that this split would be better for recruiting and give the AHA-West (or CHA v2.0, or whatever you call it) an outside shot at an at large bid, something I don't see likely for a league sporting UConn and AIC. The west could even take in Huntsville, though I would rather have an even number of teams.

On the new arena, NHL size, 4K with design for future building sounds great to me.

I would imagine that's how they will run this, except that the top two in each division would get a bye. All the basketball conferences with two divisions have this type of setup for their conference tournaments. It makes sense because its unfair to seed a straight 1 through 12, due to the unbalanced schedule between the two divisions.

Yeah, I thought of that after I posted. That way the second round has 8, then a final four.

While this certainly isn't the strongest season for the group of eastern teams, don't write them off completely. Remember, Bentley just beat UMass and is the highest rated team (power rankings) in the AHA. Sacred Heart just swept AFA and has two OOC wins versus ECAC teams. Holy Cross is recovering a bit from a very tough year last year but we all know that they have made the NCAA's twice and have the first conference win in the national tournament.

If they have the crossover format for the league tournament, I think some of the eastern teams could and would advance.

If AHA was going to have two divisions next year, that might be a sensable playoff plan. However, AHA is not going to have two divisions next year.

All standings will be maintained as a single entity, as it is today. The only aspect that will be separate is scheduling, which will be done through a mechanism the league is calling "pods".

This makes perfect sense! Two completely different schedules one big ole' messed up standings! Way to go AHA!

OK, time to forget about next year and all the non-conference losses. The Tigers are the only team in AH that control their own destiny completely. If RIT goes 13-3 or better down the stretch, it doesn't matter what anyone else does, they'll have their third regular-season title in four years.

(Math according to http://www.playoffstatus.com/atlantichockey/atlanticwinmagicnumbers.html)

Also, buzz for Dan Ringwald at hockeyprospects.com

Gonna be tough. That means winning all the games RIT should win against HC, Uconn, Army and AIC. I expect any losses would come at the hands of Canisius, Air Force and Bentley and/or Sacred Heart. Those last weekends against Canisius and Air Force are gonna be big no matter what. RIT can't afford to be swept any of these weekends if they want to maintain their advantage

Good to see some buzz about Ringwald. I expect he'll be seeing some ECHL playing time at the end of the college season. He probably has the potential to crack the AHL on a lower d-man pairing (I think speed might be a problem) though I am no scout so what do I know? :)

Due to issues with the Corner Crew web site, there will be no preview of the Holy Cross series from me.

Predictions:
Friday: RIT 3, Holy Cross 1
Saturnday: RIT 4, Holy Cross 2

Holy Cross rolled in tonight while we were all suiting up in the downstairs lobby for some pickup hockey. Said hi to one of their guys who I went to high school with. Hope he's ready to get heckled all weekend. :D

Yes, Biggar's post cleared that up. It there an article that explains the plans for next year, or is this all through back channels and inside info? I'd love to hear the official word on how the conference will operate next year. I looked at the AHA site but I either missed it or it isn't there.
