Just FYI, Tigers fans:

The Hershey Bears will be in town on the 18th for a game against the Amerks. Steve Pinizzotto has 3 goals and 4 assists in 19 games for the Bears. This is one of two trips to Rochester for the Bears this season. And there's no Tigers game that night.

You know what to do. =)

While slightly disappointing to not get 4 points against Holy Cross, getting 3 road points is not the worst thing in the world.

After our 3 point weekend, and air force's sweep of AIC, we are again tied for first place. RIT technically has first, as we have more conference wins (our record is 9-2-1, AF is 8-1-3). Air Force will likely gain sole possession of first place in the next few weeks. Our next games are non-conference; Saturday against Niagara, and then 1/1 and 1/2 at Minnesota State. Both of these weekends, Air Force has conference games against Mercyhurst and Sacred Heart, so they will have played 4 games more than us. (if mercyhurst sweeps AF, they will gain first place). These games are made up in February. They have non conference games on 2/5 and 2/6, when we play at Sacred Heart, and AF is off the following weekend when we play at Army. The weekend after that, (2/19 and 2/20), we host Air Force...Those games will most likely decide who will win the conference.

I am not too worried about losing first place now, as it only matters who has it on February 28th.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Who's in first only matters when points behind is greater than two times games in hand.

It's only polite to let someone else feel like they are in first place for a little while!!;)

Regardless, all I need to see is top four in the regular season and then a couple of springtime victories in the BCA. That will be remembered far longer than who finished first in the regular season. I like RIT's position right now.

2010-2011 Recruit

2010-2011 Recruit

Almost fell off the 2nd page. Heck, that's Bentley or AIC territory. :) :)

Tigers pick up another recruit out of the EJHL

Nolan Descoteaux - D - 10/16/1989 6' 200lbs

With that last name you figure he's got to be from Quebec, but no he calls Dallas, TX home.

He's the highest scoring D-man in the EJHL, playing for the southern division leading South Shore Kings.

Here's his line for this season. Unfortunately, the EJHL doesn't track +/-

24gp 10g 17a 17pts 27pim 6ppg 9ppa 2sha

From his number, it looks like he loves the PP. We'll see how that translates to DI.

I'll look for more info when I get the chance.

Nice article on the South Shore Kings, and some of their leading players. Descoteaux is featured prominently.

What hockey player worth their salt doesn't love a little PP time? :) If he is anything like Tanev I will be quite happy.

With RIT playing Niagara at home this weekend this thread should get a little more love

Big game coming up for me. My nephew is a Niagara student and if Niagara wins, I have to teach in a Niagara shirt the first day after break. If RIT wins, he has to attend classes that day in an RIT shirt (with some of his classmates/friends on the hockey team! :D)

Go Tigers!

I've already bought him one of those nice Under Armor RIT hoodies for Christmas (back when they were on sale during break ... 20% off plus the faculty discount!).

I'm sure it's nice enough that he'll be wearing it around Niagara regardless.

It think you got the point, but sound way more concern about the situation than you should. The important thing is to remember that at most Air Force will be 8 points ahead and RIT will have 4 games in hand (ie they would catch Air Force if they won those 4 games). Standings in hockey, especially College Hockey reminds me of a favorite old saying "figures don't lie, but liers figure." Yeah, Air Force may open up an 8 point lead in the standing the next two weekend, but in essence still be tied for first with RIT untill RIT loses one of those games in hand, if that happens.

I favor Air Force in their two games against Mercyhurst, but I believe Mercyhurst will win one. The Lakers like year past have started slow but have gotten hot latley making the RIT sweep in Erie all the more big. The footnote is that the Lakers have played bottom feeders to get hot, they still looking for that big win.

What is the best news for the Tigers is that the hardest part of their conference schedule is behind them. Like last year they have bunch of conference weekend lined up against teams 6th or worst in the conference in January. Unlike last year they approach January in first. Air Force really needs to sweep next two weekends to hold on to first.

Air Force's 2nd half conference schedule is not to tough either. Its really a dog fight with Mercyhurst lurking out there. The winner should have a slightly eaiser path to the Championship game. I think this conference really needs what we've been flirting with for the last 3 years, an Air Force/RIT Championship game.

Just got a text from RIT athletics:

"Men's hockey looks to tie Division I program record 11-game winning streak Saturday against Niagara.

I hope they mean unbeaten streak, last time I checked we tied Holy Cross a few days ago.
