Not only do we get Albany but we also get Barry Melrose! Long live the mullet!

Hopefully the curse of the mullet strikes DU!

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Hopefully the curse of the mullet strikes DU!

Mullet called the 2005 NCAA Championship Game when Denver beat North Dakota for title #7. He was very pro North Dakota for much of the game, but when Denver turned the tide en route to a 4-1 victory, he looked pretty foolish.

He already dissed Denver goalie Marc Cheverie this morning on the selection show, and picked Cornell to win the bracket, so he's already showed his anti-Denver stance.

Fortunately, games are played on the ice, and wild mullets have nothing to do with the outcome.

Looking forward to a good regional and exciting hockey.

However I beleive RIT should get some tickets...

RIT should get 400 tickets according to this doc I found Googling

Don't forget- we're still in a race with Bemidji to be the first hockey team to win National Championships in D-II, D-III and D-I. Let's make that our first prioRITy

Believe me, that's always in the back of my mind. Bemidji's Frozen Four appearance last year was scary.

Powers &8^]

If history proves to be right Bemidji will only win after RIT does. RIT beat Bemidji for both the D-III and D-II titles then Bemidji won them the following year(if my memory serves me right from the stories I've heard).

Three and a half hour drive and the early game - that sucks for your guys! How do you think attendance will be for your game?

Hope to see you Saturday!!! :P

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

I'm skipping out on my last class on Friday to make the 15 minute drive down to the TUC. Is there any way to get an orange RIT jersey? A quick online search of the bookstore only showed a white youth jersey for sale. I would really appreciate any poster who could give me information on pricing / availability.

Also, I don't trust UPS / the postal service to get the jersey out to Troy before game time on Friday. Are there any posters who are making the drive east on Friday? You should be able to use the email or rep function through USCHO to contact me.

Thanks in advance. Can't wait to see the Tigers in action this week.

Link to the pdf file (See above)

Page 15 has the allotment and seating info. I hope RIT announces something soon, so I can figure out what I'm doing.

According to that page, 25 members of the pep band (and cheerleaders - not that I recall RIT having one) and mascot can get in for free. So that doesn't count against the allotment.

We're assigned sections 108-110 I believe (lower left corner on the side of team benches).

The 400 tickets is just going thru RIT - I assume there's a way to contact the venue directly as well for tickets.

The Times Union Center has the other tickets: Times Union Center site

Tickets do not go on sale on the TUC page until Monday at 10am though.

I know that 25 members are allowed in free. I believe you are correct that they don't count against the allotment.

Full-session tickets (Friday and Saturday) are, and have been, on sale. Tickets for Friday only go on sale tomorrow morning.

Does anyone know what kind of coverage we can expect for this tournament? Of course I can expect WITR to be doing radio, but how about video? Online or over the air television would be preferable

Not all of them; some of them overlap with each other, in which case only one will be on ESPNU and the other on ESPN360.com. Ours is the first of the weekend, as far as I can tell, and it will be on ESPNU according to the selection show.

And since they have Buccigross and Barry Melrose commentating, I'm sure they'll stick with them every chance they can get ;)

Ok... So I was just looking up DU's hockey arena (Magness Arena). With Dr. Destler loving RIT sports so much and after such success this year. Does anyone think this could be a possibility?

Sorry about the off topic!

Sorry about the off topic!

A new arena is never off topic!! Magness looks nice and the idea of an arena attached to other facilities is intriguing. However, I think it's probably too big for RIT (seating over 6K). Realistically, an arena with 3-4K actual seats is probably more in line. (While we're wishing, let's be sure to throw an HD video scoreboard in there.)

That said, I really hope the development folks are on the ball this week and use the NCAA PR to publicly launch the arena fundraising. They can't count on this happening every year and really could "build" on the bump in interest and enthusiasm. But they probably need that big "name" donor before they can do much ... maybe that one will come forward this week???

Whoa, they have an arena that could hold their entire student body and have room leftover??

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' Part 2 - The Playoffs

Denver has about 5,000 undergrads and 6,000 grad students for about 11,000total students. The grad students rarely come to games, and most of them don't live on campus. The undergrads do live on campus for the most part.

We average about 300-800 students per hockey game depending on the opponent's brand name and the latest ski report, and average about 5,000 -6,000 total fans per game.

Denver hockey is about the 10th-12th most popular sports team in Denver, so there is a lot of competition for the entertainment dollar here.

The Ritchie Center is 440,000 square feet and holds the Magness hockey/basketball arena, the pool, some gyms, a fitness center and a second ice sheet. Cost was about $75-85 million when it was built 10 years ago.
