And, RITProf, it's not exactly an "orangish" red, but it's definitely not a "bluish" red.

I disagree here, I like what he said here, its putting everything on RIT. As he said if we play our game, we win. That how you win a championship, no excuses its all on you. Thats not being cocky and if UCONN needs that kind of statement to fire them up they are lost already.

I saw Remy at the Platty/Genny this year, did not say hi to him, but notice he was rather lazy in what was a close game. Seems he producing so much hot air these days that all he can do is blow his horn...

Consider me among the group that wishes Alexin had not said what he said. True or not (and it is), you don't say those kind of things before a playoff series. For all the great things RIT has done in the DI era, blowing away teams in the playoffs is not one of them.

I don't have an issue with Alexin's statement. You need to be confident in your game this time of year. I don't feel it was cocky or anything.

UConn's freshman goalie, Garrett Bartus, totally deserved that first star tonight. I am glad he got it. 51 saves - A bunch were beautiful saves that I gave a golf clap to. Tigers seemed to play aggressively and got a lot of chances, but Bartus stole a bunch. We were lucky to pull away with the win.

Consider the RIT men's hockey team wide awake now.

Friday night at Ritter Arena in Game 1 of their Atlantic Hockey Association quarterfinal tournament game against Connecticut, the Tigers could not have dominated the Huskies any more than they did.

Yet the matter was not settled until Chris Haltigin's slap shot from the right point soared over UConn goalie Garrett Bartus' glove 9:54 into overtime, giving top-seeded RIT a well-deserved 4-3 victory.

I, for one, am THRILLED that it's Canisius. Mercyhurst is just scary to play against during the playoffs and I will always be up for wiping the smirks off those pretty-boy cheapskates. The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the 4 PM puck drop. I'm coming in from the DC Metro area and the early start time is messing with my travel plans. I know the Witter guys (still getting used to Witter vs. WITR) wanted to ask Coach Wilson about the 4 PM over 7:35 PM-- did anyone hear his response?

Ok would someone explain to me why RIT is playing in the first game? Who came up with that, all most everyone else in College Hockey knows it better to play a team that is hosting in the late game!!!!!!!

That will be a drag on attendance, Whiskey Tango Foxtought, can anyone explain this to me???

Sure.

1) The team playing in the early game gets 3 1/2 hours more rest.

2) The team playing in the early game doesn't have to scout the other game before it plays its game. If you lose, you go home. If you win, you watch the other two teams.

It may be a drag on attendance, but it's an advantage for the top seed, especially if one or the other goes to overtime.
