Re: >>>>RIT 2010 Offseason Thread-"You have to be a genius to go to RIT"

The family's out of town tonight, so I'm finally watching the Frozen Four game on the TiVo. I guess it's taken me this long to bear to watch it. Obviously the score was a disaster, but looking at the game after this long (and with a better view than I had in Detroit!) the disparity in play was really not that bad. My memory was worse than the reality, so it was actually kind of nice to watch the game again and remember that awesome journey to Detroit.

(It also helps a little knowing that the Badgers got it handed right back to them by BC two nights later!:p )

I agree. The AHA Tournament Champions banner is the equivalent of a NCAA participation banner and an NCAA East Regional Champions banner is the equivalent of a FF participation banner. It just seems better to stick with the ones that say champions.

That said, is there really such a thing as "East Regional Champions". They seem to make a big thing out of that in basketball, but there was no fanfare for hockey (e.g., trophy, etc.). Even if it's not something official, I think those in the know understand and for those not in the know it doesn't matter.

To follow up on this earlier question, I was just watching the 2010 highlight video here http://hagerproductions.net/movies/rithockey

and saw that there is a nice NCAA semifinalist trophy behind the players and coach in the interviews. If the NCAA gives a trophy, I'd say a banner is certainly in order.

Rumors from DeMike (via Facebook) says that Dan Ringwald signed a contract to play for the Hartford Wolfpack ( NY Rangers AHL team). No further details at this time are available.

It's not a rumor, it's true! Congrats to Dan!

Oh, God. Not the Rangers! At least it's a one-way one-year deal. Good for him, I always thought he was one of the best players on the ice whenever he played.

My thoughts too..... Especially as a devs fan. Luckily it is a one year deal.

Rangers have pretty decent Depth at D right now in the system for him to compete with. Del Zotto is with the big club, and Mcdonagh, Sanguinetti, Sauer, and Heikkinen would likely be ahead of him.

RIT folk,

Some guy from Novosibirsk posted your game against Wisconsin in 2010 Frozen Four on the Russian bittorrent tracker, rutracker.org, with commentary and play-by-play in Russian: http://rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2890039

The Russian commentators are professionals, albeit of a regional, as opposed to national stature: Alexander Tkachev and Sergei Kashirskii. Sergei Kashirskii was the Vice President (and a de-facto GM) of HC Spartak Moscow from 2002 to 2006. Spartak is one of the more famous old Soviet clubs.

The files in the torrent also have English soundtrack (Gary Thorne & Barry Melrose). I haven't actually downloaded these, so can't attest to quality. I assume Sergei Kashirskii is doing color commentary and Tkachev is doing play-by-play.

Thought you guys might find this interesting or at least mildly amusing. Congratulations, RIT is somewhat famous in Russia!

High five on the Devils fandom. I always secretly hope that our (RIT) boys get signed by Lou.

Hey, the Devs could use a good offensive defenseman right about now...

How about the Denver or UNH games? :D I'd probably rather watch them. :o

Definitely could. We have some kids in the system that may surprise you though. Especially Urbom in Brandon of the W.

Both Miami and RIT get a third place trophy. As do Oswego and Plattsburgh in Division III. In tournaments with no consolation game, both semfinal losers get the same trophy.

Sad day for me, everyone remembers the "That's Alright, Thats Ok, Your Going to Work for Us Someday..." Cheer.

Just found out the CEO of my company is a Canisius College Grad and to make matters worst my boss is an ex NCO of the Air Force

Where did I go Wrong???

Elmira Fans need not reply

At the risk of Jim32 slamming me again as he did so well after my very first post all those years ago (and yes, I deserved it)... you just need to land a job in a "Cow Town", Tom!! :D

These Elmira fans are hard workers, and believe it or not, they're house broken and clean-up after themselves too!!

Edit: Always disliked that cheer, btw! ;)

Already blew that one Dave, looks like my Pine City (She doesn't technically live in Elmira) sweetie to look for jobs in Buffalo, seems that even Buffalo is more exciting than Elmira. All though I should be heading there in a weekend or two, have to get together for a cold one...

Another contract signing: This time, Chris Tanev (who just finished his freshman year) signed a 3 year entry level contract with the Vancouver Canucks...Losing him is going to hurt.

If Chris ends up playing for their AHL team, the Manitoba Moose, we will see him in Rochester a lot because they are in the same division as the Amerks.

Ouch.....:( :(

Welcome to the Down Side of DI hockey. Promising guys leaving early.

I expected Tanev to leave, but figured we'd get to see him another year.

Congratulations to Chris. Hope you keep moving forward toward your dreams.

Every year its going to be someone, Pinizzotto, Kharin, Crowel, now Tanev...

I think Wayne Wilson just eat his words, I remember him making a post game comment about it being nice that players in this program are more gear towards the program as oppose to where they are going to play next. Did not see this one coming which makes it hurt even more. TigerFan86-87 see sometimes I hate being right :(

This is big and changes the outlook of the Atlantic, RIT D line was going to be the only area with out a question going into the season. Now there is a big hole. RIT may not be the favorite anymore, they are still going to be near the top, but it just got a lot harder....

Need a drink...
