Riots and Racists and Looting...OH MY!!!

Re: Riots and Racists and Looting...OH MY!!!

It's been around for years and apart from people being fired up about Ferguson/NYC/etc., nobody would have an issue, as I've never heard a problem about this in the past. They have the public start running and then a few minutes later the officers start running and try to catch the public. Just goes to show that what is considered humor most of the time can suddenly become an issue under certain circumstances. Too bad for the charities that would have benefitted from this. Hopefully they can reinstate it sometime soon. It was actually considered a good way to connect with the public.

I would totally dress up as a donut, although I'm sure that's been done before. :D

Sounds like fun and a good cause.

What evidence/information are you privy to that the Grand Jury did not hear? Witness testimony and the forensic evidence clearly disproved the entire "hands up" meme. The jurors agreed that Wilson feared for his life and took the action that he was permitted under the law, thus the no bill.
No they were confused due to the fact that the prosecutor didn't present the case as he would in any other grand jury not involving an officer, presented a defense case for the officer, originally misstated the use of force laws and blatantly confused the grand jury with double negatives and the like when they asked a simple question about burden of proof.

No.

No. I'm suggesting if we're willing to give up lives to keep the police safe, maybe we should consider giving up the radical interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, instead.

But not seriously, of course, because the people whose lives are being giving up don't count, while the people making money off gun sales obviously do.

Really? Why can't you just admit that you're wrong and the jurors got it right? Just because it doesn't fall in line with your narrative?

The prosecutor's ASSISTANTS presented all of the evidence. The "witnesses" who saw Brown surrendering, saw Wilson shoot him in the back or saw Wilson shoot him while standing over him were thoroughly discredited.

A Phoenix police officer shot to death an unarmed black man during a struggle and authorities said the officer believed the individual had a gun, in the latest fatal incident amid national turmoil over the policing of black communities.

Posted yesterday, but what you're leaving out is that the "weapon" was a bottle of pain killers. Very dangerous.

Discredited must be polite for lied under oath

As for Garner, having been in that situation I can tell you that trying to take a man (or woman) of his size into custody is not an easy task, even if he/she is only passively resisting. I'm not condoning what was done if, in fact, it was a chokehold as defined by the NYPD regs. However, I have seen a similar takedown used in similar situations.

One issue being overlooked in the Garner case is the coroner's ruling that his death was a homicide. Other than Bill Bratton on Fox today, I've seen little or no reporting that ruling doesn't mean that the death meets the criminal definition of a homicide.

Im not saying he was guilty, but he sure as hell would've been indicted if he wasn't a cop. As the saying goes, a prosecutor could indict a ham sandwich if he chose to. The only time any defense gets presented to a grand jury is when the prosecutor allows it, which means only when the thin blue line is in play.

As I said earlier, the grand jury issues are separate from the actual killings. The former is not racial but a cop vs everyone else type thing. The latter is where race is involved.

In a normal grand jury (ie, for people other than cops), the jurors would never see any of that discrediting information. That's the point I'm trying to make.

Maybe people should be wondering why the cops are so quick - less than two seconds in Cleveland - to kill the people they are supposed to "protect and serve."

You've never been in a potential life or death situation, have you? Seconds could mean not going home at the end of your shift.

I'm not putting you in this boat, but Brad Thor hit the nail on the head:

Brad Thor (BradThor):
We should have the hashtag #armchairpatrolofficer for some of the astoundingly uninformed nonsense people Tweet about cops and police work.

Yeah, that kid in Cleveland was a huge threat. He might have zapped the officer with his ray gun.

Re: Riots and Racists and Looting...OH MY!!!

Haven't had one of these in a while.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p>LAPD just murdered an unarmed man right in front of me. <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/LAPD?src=hash">#LAPD</a> <a href="http://t.co/8vdvJYrww0">pic.twitter.com/8vdvJYrww0</a></p>— Jordan White (@jordanwhiteLA) <a href="https://twitter.com/jordanwhiteLA/status/541064857341026304">December 6, 2014</a></blockquote>

ETA: He is reported to be in critical condition. This Jordan White filmed for over 5 minutes and the guy never moved. Too early to tell.

The man who was shot last night is dead. A Swiss Army Knife was found at the scene. I'll have to get rid of my SAK since owning one is a capital offense requiring multiple shots.

Just saying I'd rather not jump to any conclusions at this point. This goes for both sides.

Re: Riots and Racists and Looting...OH MY!!!

I think we can all agree that the most important thing at a time like this is that no police officers face the potential of being asked difficult questions about their actions.
