Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!
We had a guy my senior year at Ferris who we suckered one night. He was from Turkey. I came back one night after a few beers (big surprise there, right?), and he was talking with a friend of mine. My friend mentioned to me that this guy was having a few problems with his ride. My buddy suggested that since we had to go to the store in the morning, he could just ride with us, and we'd drop him off at the NAPA store. No problem. Always happy to help a new guy out.
By the time I had arrived, my friend had diagnosed this kid's main issue: his car was low on blinker fluid. How does that affect a rough-running engine? Well, I explained to this guy that if the blinker fluid gets low, that causes the rest of the engine to be out of balance since it would have to compensate for the low fluid level. The blinkers would also start to dim as well. Major safety issue there. I also asked him if the car was riding a little rough, too, as that was a sign that the air in the tires needed to be cleaned. He mentioned that he thought the shocks needed to be replaced. We disagreed. We told him that rather than spend that kind of money, NAPA probably had some tire air cleaner that would be much cheaper, and would have the same effect. So, in the morning, we would drop him off at NAPA so that he could buy his blinker fluid and tire air cleaner, and we would go do our thing, and we would pick him up about an hour later.
For some reason he didn't talk to us for about a month. Sometimes that's what you get when you help someone out, I guess.
