Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Don't know about the car, but my guess is they are sodomizing the owner.

So, yeah, pretty much. Jesus, Mary and Joseph. My car just hit the 30,000 mile mark and it's 5 1/2 years old and my brakes are shot? And two tires are worn? Was not planning to have to spend THAT much money today. And it's still at the dealer. I dropped it off at 8:00am.

And, still waiting for the Geek Squad to show up. I didn't realize their 12-4pm appointment was similar to Comcast, meaning they show up any time within that timeframe. I'm still at my parents' house waiting for them. I hope this idiot gets here and gets their new computer set up in time for me to head to the game in Providence tonight. I was hoping they'd be done by now and could do some work. I have both my personal and work laptops here with me. That's not going to happen. I'm going to call again in the next 15 minutes. That's a ridiculously large timeframe to make someone wait through. I thought they were better than that. And I'm probably going to have to leave during it to go get my car. I am not in a good mood. You might as well reserve a place for me at the * hockey table. When all these types of things happen to me, it throws off the karma and the team usually plays poorly.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Brakes should not be shot at 30K. I've gone 80K on my last two vehicles on the front brakes, although my current truck eats rear brakes like a fat kid eats cake. If the tires are original, I would suppose that it's possible that you could have worn tires, although I would think that all 4 would be worn, assuming you've rotated them like you're supposed to. Some manufacturers do not put the best tires on their new vehicles.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Who rotates their tires every 5,000 miles? I think my brakes lasted around 60k-70k the first time around. My original tires lasted around 80k which blew my mind.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

I do mine every other oil change, so about 7500-8000 miles. My Goodyear Wranglers have almost 44,000 miles on them and they look like they could go another 20K.

In my first Ranger, the front brakes went at 81,000 miles, and I had the rear ones done when I did the 100,000 mile service. On this one, I'm on my 3rd set of brakes on the rears (one set of pads fell apart, and I had something to do with the 2nd replacement being necessary), and I got the front ones done at 72K.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Yeah, I treat my brakes like garbage when I drive. I probably shouldn't, but whatever. Had to have the rotors replaced on the front last time around. Corroded pretty bad from what I was told.

I don't really rotate the tires like I should. Usually every 10k or so. I'm a bad car owner.

Oil I get every 4k-5k, which is actually right in the sweet spot. The 3k mile myth is slowly being changed to the far more appropriate 4k-5k. I remember reading mustangs need it 5k based on a recommendation in the NYT.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

I don't rotate tires very often. Never have on this truck. I check them for irregular wear regularly. I hope to never replace brakes. I downshift and use the engine brake.

Bought new boots today. They. Are. Badass.

I did 10K tire rotations on my first Ranger, until I started seeing the wear bars at 35,000 miles. Well, it was probably the way I treated those tires as well as the fact that they were horse**** to start with.

I shoot for about every 4K on oil changes. My dad did that with his last truck, and it lasted him 11 years and 190,000 miles, and those miles weren't easy ones on a farm, either. Come to think of it, the truck is due now.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

I change oil every 5000-6000 miles. We specify 7500, but I don't like going that far. Changing oil is a hitch on my truck, the filter is along the side of the engine below the turbo and it absolutely sucks to get to. On top of that it takes 3 gallons of oil so it is expensive to do it.

If you want to carpool I'm in. Brent has my info to pass on.

Ok. Are you planning on driving back up here tonight? I'm not going to be in any condition to drive tonight, so I was planning on either getting a hotel room or crashing at brents if he'll have me. :p But if you're driving back up here, that could work too.

I definitely plan on coming back here tonight. Gotta be up early tomorrow.

I should probably drive myself, actually. I don't want you to have to drive way up here. I'll stay somewhere down there tonight. Hopefully with some girl I haven't met yet! ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

People are fine to crash here.

And I sent both you a message on FB.
