Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

I had the lamb chops, and yes they were good.

Lamb chops? Please tell me there was no mint jelly or whatever. That **** ain't Greek. Did you get the avgolemono soup? What did you have for dessert?

I didn't think Santorini was a national chain either...

I'm wrong about that, just MANY restaurants called Santorini. Not wrong about the food being better at Christos.

No mint jelly, I think they were pretty authentic, at least as far as I could they were. I didn't have any soup, I had a salad instead. And we didn't have desert, she was full after the entree, and I didn't need to eat desert by myself. Plus we had plenty of beer for desert afterwards.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

I've heard Christos is also good, but haven't been there.

And apparently, there's a newer upscale bar by my place, called BLVD. My brother's company had their Christmas party there, and it was all suits and cougars type of crowd. Sounds like they are trying to get the old Santorini's crowd, since Santo's moved down to Eden Prairie or wherever they are now: http://www.blvdkitchen.com/

What the hell is "Upscale Casual"? Seems like a great place to go and try, if someone else is paying. I'd avoid it for the next month or so as I bet they are going to be swamped with the annoying going to prom crowd.

I was at an upscale bar close to Brent's last night! I even wore my suit coat!

Mookie, couldn't tell you how the humidity is/was today. I just get to sit inside and drive da boat! There are times where it gets pretty bad, but in the south that is a given.

Just made the best grilled cheese ever. American, taco blend, and Famous Dave's rib rub. OMG.

Then I made peanut butter caramel chocolate chip cookies. Something is wrong with me.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

My guess is that they have it there just in case people come in that don't care about authenticity and just want some mint jelly.

Exactly. It's authentic unless you don't want it to be authentic, Scarlet. I got your point, and from my experiences there, they try, but Americans are Americans. :)

And Almsy: Upscale casual is the new term for "we want to be fancy, but still want to draw in the average Joes. But dress up, please."

Edit: it's been open for about a year or so, but never thought twice about it.

Speaking of dressing nice. I wore my suit coat to the bar last night, the last time I wore it was when our bartender was in Vegas, so she hadn't seen it before. I walked up to the bar to get a drink and she said "wow, you're dressed spiffy tonight, you must be on a date or something!" She had a very dumbfounded look on her face when she realized that I was. :p

Also, the 2 of drank there, until 1:00, and my tab (for both of us) was $31. I love that bar.

edit: to put that in perspective, our first round was $14, and that was at 8:30. (we are always charged for the first round)

I shouldn't get into a discussion about a subject that I know almost nothing about, namely Greek food, but since I am not allowed to talk about math here, I'll butt in anyway. :)

I think that Scarlet was saying that lamb chops are not a Greek dish, and just because they serve them with olive oil (or whatever) instead of mint jelly, they don't become Greek.
