I should get the shotski fixed up and cleaned for my party/bonfire in a few weeks.

I may be having some fun via twitter today...

Also, I need to get my going away gift for MNS one day after work this week...

At the airport waiting for my flight. At check in I was told that my seat needed to be assigned at the gate. Uh oh. Get to the gate and they're announcing that the flight is oversold and they're offering a guaranteed seat on the 1:00 flight plus a $400 voucher. Wondering if I should do that. I really do want to get home, though.

Any kids waiting?

Yes, two babies!! Thankfully (or not) I'm with the band members. They're very excited.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: Get the thread open so I can sit at the Happy Hockey Table

And there goes the crying baby! Mookie - aren't you glad you are flying with me!!

I told the band kids that I was in the band way back when and was also the sole member of the Beta pledge class of the band sorority and they got so excited. It's like I'm a celebrity! Maybe I should see if they post here and tell them I'm Scarlet. :)

Actually four babies. And two are sitting in my row. FML. Maybe I should have taken that later flight.

We need to start up a fund to buy Scarlet some noise canceling headphones.

They wouldn't let me in the band. No music majors in the band, that was the policy then. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: Get the thread open so I can sit at the Happy Hockey Table

So they didn't want the band to be too good? W. T. H.

That's what *I* said!

They wanted it to be "all-volunteer". And I have to admit, most of the music majors at BU were a little on the stuffy side, so I can see how they wanted the pep band to be more about fun.

At least when we'd occasionally make the hoops tourney they'd bring in some of us as ringers, for more sound and to simply look fuller on TV. Like in '88 I got to fly down as a band member to see us get trounced by Duke in the 1st round.

Tech has no music major at all. And the fine arts department is relatively tiny. tSBFitW is entirely student-run as its own org.

A lot of concert/symphony bands won't let their trumpets do m*rching or pep band because it effs with their chops.

It is windy out again, and the tourists are out looking at the cherry blossoms that are gone for the year. :D

Speaking as an ex-'rumpet player with experience in all three, I think it has more to do with bad habits than anything else. You can get away with some bad dynamics and tone in m*rching band (outside of competitions at least), and blasting is basically encouraged in casual/volunteer pep bands. In the theatre environment typical of symphonic band, playing long-winded classical pieces with precise technical requirements, those mistakes sound terrible.

Hammer, I need to borrow a shovel.

NCAA Ticketing/Ticketbastard/Veritix/Tampa Bay Times Forum/someone in charge of F4 tickets needs to die.

I don't have my ****ing tickets, yet, and we leave to head to Tampa Thursday night!

This is seriously ****ing up my chi.

And if you're leaving Thursday night, you'll be missing both semi games. ;)

Gonna be a long night in the library for me.

I feel like I've gotten a fair amount of reminders on how last night's game ended up, so it'd be nice if my friends, many of whom are very casual fans and the only time I hear them speak of gopher sports is when they beat Iowa or North Dakota, would shut the hell up.:p

Hey! Did you know the Gophers beat the Whioux yesterday to end their season? You did? Did you know the Gophers beat the Hawkeyes to keep Floyd this past season? :p

Oh, and hear is one you might want to watch and hear Frank's comment after Condon's goal: http://www.youtube.com/embed/K2106zFgdiY
