And if you're leaving Thursday night, you'll be missing both semi games. ;)

This Thursday, smart ***. :p
We're heading down early and taking a cruise. Delayed honeymoon. :)

Gonna be a long night in the library for me.

I feel like I've gotten a fair amount of reminders on how last night's game ended up, so it'd be nice if my friends, many of whom are very casual fans and the only time I hear them speak of gopher sports is when they beat Iowa or North Dakota, would shut the hell up.:p
Being a fan of those two teams, you deserve all of the **** that comes your way. :p

2 more days until Vacation, flying to Orlando on Thursday for a few days of Disney and then to Tampa for a few days of Hockey:). After last weeks temps in the 80s I can't wait as its winter here again:D

Sitting at the sad hockey table. Great run for UMD in the last 4 years. It will be entertaining to see how they can rebuild.

I deal with the same thing from UND "fans" at work - only one of them is a real fan, the rest are casual, and I heard from all of them each effing time UND ended MN's season the past few years. Naturally, this week is far more enjoyable. :D

I can imagine. It's a bit annoying when you know they're not really fans just have some association and like to take their stabs when they can. On the other hand, it makes it that much sweeter when you're on the winning end.:)

Hey! Did you know the Gophers beat the Whioux yesterday to end their season? You did? Did you know the Gophers beat the Hawkeyes to keep Floyd this past season? :p

Oh, and hear is one you might want to watch and hear Frank's comment after Condon's goal: http://www.youtube.com/embed/K2106zFgdiY

...is this the video from my facebook wall? I'm not even going to open the link.

and oh yeah, * you! I really don't have much of a problem when it comes from true fans, such as yourself.

BTW, pretty sure I saw you and jr yesterday. jr gets extra excited when cakeeater Budish gets announced?

My hatred for the rodents runs deep, yes?:p

I've always been an outsider when it comes to my favorite teams, so I'm used to most of it by now.

Good evening Lodge.

Very windy in 320ville right now.

Edit. A good friend of mine informed me in January that his father was diagnosed with cancer in December 2011. Just got a text from him. "Our main goal now is to keep dad comfortable with warmth, company and love." Crap. F u cancer. F u.

I'm thinking of doing an offseason poll(s) to vote on the greatest athlete of all time. Yeah, its something that no one will agree on, but I figured it would get some conversations going during a time when it is pretty dead around here. I haven't figured out exactly how I'll do it, but I have a good idea. Do people think that this would draw some interest?

He does, and views Gleason and Gaarder as turncoats. His summer AAA team is mostly EP kids. He was in a box with 3 EP kids and they started razzing him about being the only Hornet and he said "but I like Kyle Rau" and everyone was cool with him then. :D

Nah, it's too obvious with Wilt being the answer.

Oh, maybe you mean other than in the bedroom.....

He's on my list. But I wouldn't put him number 1. My #1 didn't play any of the "big 4" sports.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: Get the thread open so I can sit at the Happy Hockey Table

I'd guess Jesse Owens.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: Get the thread open so I can sit at the Happy Hockey Table

Garth Brooks? Dale Earnhardt? Hulk Hogan? Cast from Hee Haw? :p
Earnhardt is on the list, but that is mostly to drive conversation and because I want to touch on other sports than just the mainstream ones. For example, I included Carl Lewis, Jesse Owens, Michael Phelps, Tiger Woods, Lance Armstrong, etc. One problem is that there are some sports that should probably be included that I can't name a single person that has ever played it, but I think I figured out a way around that.

IMHO every generation has multiple athletes that deserve attention. To try and narrow it down to one athlete is difficult.........

Hard to compare, too. Ali compared to a "complete" athlete like a wrestler (not WWE stuff) is difficult. Or the age old "tackle a 250 lb guy that doesn't wanna be tackled" vs hit a round ball with a round stick debate.

Also, I think you have to take into consideration the social climate of the times. Jackie Robinson and Jesse Owens. Imagine what they had to deal with once the game was over let alone what they had to deal with during competition. Ted Williams, took a break from playing ball to fight in a war.
