Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

Happy Birthday Jimjamesak!
Good Morning Lodge!

We don't have AC. I wilt in the heat during the day but can sleep thru it at night. Humidity just makes heat worse.

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

Storms just kicked the Twin Cities' arse this morning. Reports of damaged house siding/cars due to hail, heavy winds and rain, etc. My patio was covered with pea-sized hail; as in COVERED. Thank goodness Maggie is parked in the underground parking. If she got damaged, I'd be PI*ED.

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

We got some bad hail out in GDO this morning but it was my dad who got it worse. Golf ball sized hail and trees and branches down.

I was hoping to get a new roof out of this. Not sure I have enough damage to make a claim.

My power was knocked the **** out for a while. I don't know how long, but when it came back I was awoken by a bunch of whirlygigs all firing up at once in my house.

A few trees are down in the parks around my house, and a bunch of branches all over the place through the surrounding neighborhoods, but everything else appears be all right down here in the Dixie of Minny.

S-I-L lives in Blaine & is out of town with her family. Ran up to check and her house looks like it was shelled. :eeK
Luckily the damage is all siding (and possibly shingles when an expert looks) no windows broken or interior damage.

Lots of shredded leaves in the area and a few hail drifts.

I was out with some friends and saw someone else's house up in Blaine. It looked like something out of Dresden in 1945.

Bostonians - let's say Fade has one night in Boston this Friday, and is coming in around 6 (will be brutal for the crowded & popular places, I know). Where should I eat? Staying at the Logan Hilton (have a 7:30 flight on Saturday, or else I'd be at the downtown one for the same price, so don't judge). Looking downtown, East, and Orient Heights, so not far.

I've been to a few joints before - Mario's in East (good), Boston Sail Loft downtown (meh), Fiore in North End (pretty good), Bostonia Public House downtown (good), New Saigon in Orient Heights (best pho ever).

mookie will have to venture to new saigon and try this out :p
mookie goes to new dong khanh in chinatown for pho.

mookie is a fan of d'parma in eastie (maverick sq). there is also a d'parma in winthrop if fade is adventurous. much nicer looking place, but the food is the same. santarpio's in eastie is also worth a visit as it is close.

if fade is downtown and wants to spend money go try o-ya :D

Good Evening, Lodge!

I got to work before the storm hit this morning. Go to break and had 4 messages asking if I made it to work ok, did the sirens go off, and complaining about a kid waking them up screaming due to the storm. Yes, I made it to work before the storm. No, the sirens did not go off. Now to wait for round 2. Hopefully, it is better than round 1 for us south of the river.

Round 2 wants to happen here, but don't think it's gonna happen. We'll see.

Re: Rep retirement lodge CC - greetings from heathrow

We were driving down 494 when it hit. Because we were in the south metro it was just a ton of lighting and rain. A couple hail patches, but probably not even pea sized. I have been worrying about what I'll come home to all day, but it is just a bunch of leaves and twigs. Whew.

Talking with folks, sounds like 694 was the barrier. Anything north got NAILED and anything south was hit or miss, generally.

Fade's opinion is relative, and we don't have a lot of Vietnamese joints in MI. So maybe it's not the best, but it was the best I've had.

Thanks though, D’Parma looks pretty good. I don't need "fancy" during a run. I'll probably avoid Santarpio's, as I'm not a big fan of places where they are deliberately curt (checked reviews).

Morning.

Got a strip of land next to my house re-sodded Friday as part of new home warranty work (i.e., free). Now I have to spend 2 weeks watering it to keep it alive!

It's about 45'×6'.

For all of those of you that have been beytching about the heat, I was out stacking hay in it this weekend. Got a text from my brother saying that wagons had arrived from our new supplier, and that was after a busy day of being up in Lansing at a group picnic. got 2 wagons unloaded pretty much by ourselves saturday night, and was supposed to have a crew sent over sunday morning with about 5 more loads coming, but he had some equipment repairs he had to make that morning and we got tried of waiting around for the crew to show up, so we were going at it. had knocked out 2 wagons and was just about to go pull the next wagon into the barn and up to the loft when the crew finally showed up with their elevator in tow. let them set that up and knocked out the last 2 wagons we had with that.
