Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Well, if you didn't gather it from my psychotic ranting on Twitter, my trip home did not go very well.

Flight out of Denver was delayed by 20-ish minutes for no good reason. My flight which was supposed to touch down at 5:16 actually touched down at 5:33. Ten minutes of taxiing and ten more minutes of deplaning later, I made it to the board at ORD and saw my 6:00 MBS flight was still on time, and of course it was four terminals over. I got to the gate and voila, it was closed. FAIL. I estimate I must have missed this thing by about two minutes. Maybe if I pulled an OJ Simpson Hertz commercial I might have made it, but I doubt it. Went to customer service, and the next flight to MBS left at 1 PM Christmas Day, and the next one after THAT didn't leave until 8:05.

Fortunately, I met another couple behind me who had missed the same connection, and we decided we're renting a car and driving this *****. Small problem: NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE FARKING CITY OF CHICAGO had a rental car available. NOBODY. There wasn't even a bus to Detroit available. We went back in and chewed out United until they comped us a hotel room, then went out together looking for booze on the CTA on Christmas Eve in a farking monsoon. I was walking through puddles an inch deep.

Got to the airport the next morning, had a meal at the Fox Sports restaurant where my newfound friend had a cockroach in her salad, and fortunately caught the 1:00 to Saginaw. Total time from door in Cheyenne to touchdown in Saginaw: 28 hours.

I thought Planes, Trains and Automobiles was a comedy, not a documentary

I was worried about your timeframe, man. Sorry it took you so long. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

I heard he was on do not fly list, doesn't seem like that would be tough to figure out but...

On the news here they said he was on the US terrorist watch list, how was he even let on the plane!?!

Now I see that the flight originated in Nigeria. So I wonder if their security is very tight? Doesn't look like it. Also, did they check the passenger list in Amsterdam? Doesn't look like it.

Oh, and the kicker?

After this whole ordeal, I come home and discover that my parents had gotten me something for Christmas...new luggage.

Those aren't pillows.

Look at it this way... if you had gotten the luggage before the trip it probably would have been lost! :p

That's what will happen on the return trip. Everything will be suspiciously fine and he'll even get into Denver a few minutes early, only to find that his brand new luggage is on its way to Shanghai. :p

Well ****... Sorry to hear that man... If you ever are in Chicago again, I'll show you that the city doesn't suck on such epic levels :p Did you get a decent hotel in Rosemont out of the deal at least?

Yeah, they put me up in the Hilton and I watched Ralphie shoot his eye out on a 50" TV. Went down the Blue Line with my newfound friends and bought booze too.

No wonder Paris Hilton is so spoiled - her dad must know what he's doing to rake in that much money.

It isn't Christmas without two people puking simultaneously. And I only wish it had been from the booze. :(

Hi, Lodge!

Twitch: my entire family was following your adventure on Twitter via me (paraphrasing). They were all glad to hear you eventually made it home. :)

Hopefully they don't think I'm a total nutter.

I seriously thought I wasn't getting out of there until 8:05. That was genuine Twitch Fury.

I was paraphrasing the events, and keeping the creative use of language to myself.

I think someone is signing neg reps as other people again, unless Flashy is actually angry about the sarcastic comment I made in TRP. Either way, I don't really give a hell.
