Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Mine comes on a few times a year on my 2008 Silverado. It's always the gas cap. Once I tighten the gas cap down, it usually takes around 4-5 starts before the light goes out.

Mother nature is punishing you for trying to kill her with that gas guzzler you drive. Earth hater. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Got one good picture; will post it later today.

Glad to hear the physical turned out well - sometimes they don't.
Thanks; I was worried I was going to get yelled at for being underweight. He did say he was concerned, but he also said if I cut back on caffeine, my appetite should increase somewhat.

Good morning, Lodge. Already went for my morning run, now it's time to do laundry and dishes. Anyone need anything done while I'm moving around?

Yeah--you wanna give me some motivation to start running again regularly?

Sure, want to help me rearrange furniture and figure out where I'm going to put my awesome new huge sofa that is getting delivered tomorrow?

(I'm just a bit excited, it's big, and comfy, and long enough to fall asleep on comfortably. I just hope the delivery people can get it through the door and up the stairs)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

If it's longer than one cushion it's big enough for you to fall asleep on.

Sure - I need help finishing painting the bathroom and few spots in the living room, hanging my hockey posters on the wall in the hall, folding and hanging up mountains of clean laundry on the couch and bed, doing some generic cleaning in the bathroom and kitchen, and sweeping the bedroom and kitchen. Also - organizing my bookshelf and going grocery shopping (note, you'll need to provide a car for this as I don't have one).

True - definitely one of the perks to being short - we can fall asleep on loveseats, small couches, etc.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

And yet, you can't seem to screw the gas cap on tight?

I'd suggest that the cap may be defective, because I really crank on it when I put it on, but that would open the door for all Volvo driving cake eaters to take a shot at an American made product, like Chevy
;)

Say what you want about punishing the planet. I now work for a company that uses 100% post consumer corrugated board and news print, keeping over 1000 tons of that waste out of landfills annually. We also buy and sell steam with the adjacent Sherco Excel Energy coal plant, lowering the emissions of both. What discharge does come out of this mill is pure steam.
My Eco-karma is in better shape than ever :)

I've had the same issue a time or two with my Saab. I've had the gas cap replaced twice.

Morning Lodge. Chilly here, said 22 on my thermometer this AM.

My first thought: you're Brad Childress? :o

I've had the same issue a time or two with my Saab. I've had the gas cap replaced twice.

Same problem happened on my Mom's Saab 9-3.

Morning, Lodge. Alarm went off at 7... but I'd been up until after 3 the night before. :o Volunteer work wasn't happening today. On the plus side, it allows me to meet friends for lunch that I haven't seen in a long time.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

I finally spoke to my cousin, whose son died at age 24 last week. I did a fairly good job of not putting my foot in my mouth. I had been told by her brother not to call her until the weekend, and I played phone tag for the last two days.

:p

No problem with my Subaru. Them folks in Japan know how to design cars, and the non-union folks in Indiana know how to build them (once they've been taught by the folks from Japan) ;)

BTW, you should see the cake eater parking lot at Braemar. Lots of Escalades and Tahoes (yeah and some Beemers and Benzes, not many Volvos).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

I got my tickets to fly to Detroit for the GLI. Should be a helluva good time since I'll be sharing a hotel with 3 female friends for the 3 days I'll be there.

Hockey.....check
Attractive women.......check
Alcohol.......Not yet started, Priority HIGH

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

double post...

I have owned 4 Chrysler products now (1994 Dodge Ram 1500, 2000 Dodge Ram 1500, 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, 1989 Jeep Wrangler) and I have only had 1 problem with all of them combined that I wouldn't call normal maintenance/wear 'n tear or that wasn't because the previous owner was a dumbass. (previous owner of one of my old trucks drove it for a while without fluid in the rear dif, shortly after I bought the truck I had to replace the entire rear end:mad: ) The one thing I had to replace was a tranny in the 2000 Ram, which I expected because those trannys actually were piles of crap.

Overall, I have been very happy with vehicles from probably the least reputable of the big 3. So I see no reason to buy anything different. Brand/customer loyalty is something that my dad and grandpa taught me when I was younger, which makes it odd that my dad is a Chevy guy and I drive Dodge:p ) On the farm we always do business with the same companies/dealers etc. because the service you get is way too valuable to lose.

The Wrangler hardly counts - AMC did all the engineering for you there. :p

Otherwise, I agree on Chrysler's engineering. We've had a few Caravans (with their ****ty transmissions), a Cirrus, and a few Jeeps, and aside from the aforementioned transmissions they've been fine vehicles.

Chrysler really screwed up their reputation with the crappy transmissions that they put out in the '90s. Before that, they had the 727 and the 4 speed version of it, can't remember the designation off the top of my head, that were bulletproof. Then they went and changed them, went to a new line of transmissions and they were terrible for 10 years. Now after they seem to have fixed the problem, and the transmissions seem to be solid again, they still have that reputation of having ****ty transmissions.

Their are 2 different sensors in that tank for evaporative emmisions, I'd bet one or the other set your check engine light. I've had them both replaced in my last 2 GM trucks, if you have it long enough you will to

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Dad worked for Ford for 35 years and made nice money (pretty **** good money at the end, quite frankly). Ford money paid for the farm. Ford money paid for my education. At night a Ford is parked in my garage. I'm on my 5th vehicle ('85 F-150 in high school, '91 Tempo in college, leased a '97 F-150, bought a '99 Ranger, now have a '03 Ranger). Very minimal issues with any of the vehicles. 75K now on my '03 Ranger, had 109K on my other Ranger and the only reason I got rid of that one was because I found a helluva deal on this one and couldn't pass it up. Dad has had 5 F-150's in my life (a '71, a '76, an '86, a '95 and now an '06).

And now Mom drives a Dodge Intrepid. :D

99% of the perceived low quality of GM, Ford and Chrysler products is because of marketing. Those companies can make a car just as good if not better than most other car companies, it is just in the public's mindset that they make crap. It really ****es me off.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

The Tempos seemed to take a dump at 100k, but the trucks are amazing and getting better. His '76 didn't get to 100K, the '86 went 140K, the '95 got to 170K before it rusted out, and the one he has now will likely go over 200K. I see no reason to replace my truck before 150K, which is probably 5-6 years out. At that point it will be 11-12 years old, and I can definitely say I got my money's worth at that point.

I always buy the extended warranty, so I say "Bring it!"
