Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 87: As All Hallow's Eve Approches.....

I once got triple skunked on a dime a point game. :o

It was in the early eighties, after bowling. $21.10

Worst. Defeat. Ever. :(

I was teaching a buddy how to play. Our first official game I dealt myself a perfect hand. My buddy had no clue the significance of it. I have played and witnessed thousands of games and I have never had or seen a perfect hand.

Ha, I forgot to mention this earlier.

Today at work, I dropped a 14lb frozen hen turkey on my finger. :o

Neither have I. It's on my "must see" list. And thousands of games is no exaggeration. My grandpa taught me how to play when I was kid. Although there was no money involved, he played cutthroat every game. If I left any points from my hand, he'd take them.
I learned to count, ergo, "see" the cards, very, very quickly :o

My grandpa also taught me. Cut throat is how I learned and it is how I teach. I don't play cut throat any other time.

FYP. I still think Monopoly is ingenious. But cribbage is easily one of my most favorite games ever.

You can play that for real money too. Everyone contributes $22.00, which covers your starting $1500 and some money for the bank. 1 cent = 1 Monopoly dollar, winner take all.

Although since we were both taught cutthroat, you and I may be able to do that for, lets say, a penny a card ;)

Nice job of shuffling and cutting the cards ya thieving bastar/d.

My uncle taught me that, and I'd play by that rule all the time if I could. If I leave points, I think they SHOULD be up for grabs. However, the hubby and my mother think that's too "mean" and that I'm too competitive. Whatever. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 87: As All Hallow's Eve Approches.....

You can play cribbage for money!? Tcbg has been teaching me since we started dating. I finally beat him for the first time earlier this week. :D

You can play ANYTHING for money. Hell, we dollar-bet on Super Monkey Ball whenever Chez Rube has a hockey get-together. :D

Cut-throat is the way to go. And I've had one perfect hand, and it was against the man who taught me the game: my grandpa. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 87: As All Hallow's Eve Approches.....

Maybe it dawned on him that he needs to lose occasionally for the sake of the relationship. :D
:p I don't think so. I'd hate that!
Sure you can. However many points/pegs you lose by equal a penny, nickel, quarter, dollar or whatever you want.

In your case you could change it up. Each peg you lose by equals a piece of clothing. ;)

FWIW all other games < cribbage
Ohh -- hmmm... :)
Cribbage is awesome, but I'm quite partial to Sorry and Monopoly.

 What's a perfect hand?

Checking in from Orlando. Despite today being pretty quiet and relaxing, it was a tough day emotionally on the parent front.

Euchre is the one good thing to come out of Michigan.

So, are you gonna post an anti-Ronald video tonight? I just got the news from PB. And I hear Campion/Beaurline weren't exactly on their game, either.

Tonight, Les asks lil, "do you know who this is? (looking at me)"

"tba?"

I have TBA on ignore. I was trying to follow the BU-Lowell game in the Score Updates. That made things really difficult, seeing as he posts most of everything in that thread :p

I suppose since he doesn't post in really any of the threads I do anymore I could take him off ignore, but whatever.
