Finally, the snow has stopped falling here in Denver. My unscientific data tell me our neighborhood received about twenty inches of snow from late Tuesday evening through the early hours of Friday. The sun is trying to peak through the clouds. The temp may hit the low 40s today and temps Saturday and Sunday are forecast to be in the 50s and several days of low 60s are on the horizon for next week.
An item in this morning's Denver Post mentions what a terrific time it is for sports fans in and around Colorado. The Nuggets [2-0] on the young season, the Avs [10-1-2] and the Broncos [6-0] are a combined 17-1-2. Pretty good since only the Nuggets had any measure of success predicted for it before the teams' respective seasons began. Throw in the Pioneers at [4-2] and the total rises to 21-3-2. Not bad.
DU goalie Marc Cheverie has three consecutive shutouts in his past three starts. In the game before that he finished the final few minutes of play by not allowing a goal. If Cheverie allows no goals during the first 5:23 of tonight's game versus Mankato he will establish a school record for consecutive minutes without allowing a goal. The record is currently held by Peter Mannino [now playing with Chicago in the AHL].
I hope you get to see your favorite team in action this weekend. The Pioneers host the Mankatos in Magness Arena tonight and tomorrow night during DU's Homecoming Weekend.
Just a quick reminder: be sure to adjust your clocks be setting them back one hour tomorrow night. I hope all LODEGEONIANS have a great weekend.
