Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

I know it. That's why I drove a half hour to Walmart on my day off. *sigh* I am, however, probably sleeping on the couch tonight in a small but probably fruitless attempt to keep myself healthy, or at the very least, fluless.

I'm waffling on getting the H1N1 vaccine. As a health care worker, I'm first in line if I want it.

On the one hand, I'm 26, just past the edge of the "high-risk" young adult group. I have a strong immune system, which this flu seems to be targeting the worst. I work in a hospital, so I should probably do it for the patients' sake. Finally, I plan to do a lot of traveling in the near future, and I'd really rather not spend a week or so of my newfound life lying in bed miserable, wasting all my accumulated leave and falling behind on projects.

On the other hand, I don't have direct patient contact, and the exact opposite of one of my earlier points may be true: it may be the best choice to just let my immune system do its thing should I catch H1N1. I haven't had a flu shot since I was 8 and I hardly ever get more than a scratchy throat and a sneeze, maybe a cough. Hearsay is that the vaccine might actually mess that up.

Right now I'm about 75:25 in favor of getting it, if only because I don't feel like dealing with getting sick or blowing all my savings going to the farking ER (I have insurance, but we all know how that works)

Definitely get the seasonal flu shot now, it shouldn't hurt matters at all. H1N1 shouldn't mess up your immune system either, but I'd let that go for a while until the big rush of medical personnel is through.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

I'm not getting a flu shot, never have had one. I haven't gotten seasonal flu for as long as I can remember, sometime in elementary school. And I'm pretty sure I've already had a touch of the H1N1 stuff, even though it really wasn't that bad, just felt kinda crappy for a little over a day, so I should be ok there. I don't usually get sick more than colds, I think my immune system is pretty good, since I don't really shy away from being around sick people.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

I hope I get swine flu.

I never have had a flu shot. Besides a recent sinus infection, I have had the 24-hour flu maybe twice in the past 10 years. Those are the only times I've been sick. * shots.

There's a slim chance I might have had it. I went to a rave in Denver a while back. It was pretty much packed wall-to-wall with people - it took me 15 minutes just to claw my way out the door for drinks. About 3 days later I picked up a really sore throat, a sneeze, and I felt dazed with very slight muscle aching for about 2 days. If that was H1N1, I'm going to laugh.

The Cheyenne VA has had a confirmed H1N1 case at the ER, and we've had a few staff members out with flu-like symptoms. I hope I wasn't Typhoid Twitch :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

I get sick once a year or so, and it usually develops into bronchitis, which blows. The original illness is usually a 24-48 virus and nothing that bothers me too much.

I had what seemed like H1N1, and it drained all my energy for about 3 days. After that, nothing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

I usually want to get things early and just get it over with. Because if I do catch something that is going around, it is always right when everyone else I know just got over it. Ticks me off.

For two days in late August I had a slight fever, itchy throat with a cough. No energy and some muscle aches. I didn't even think about not going to work.

If you 'don't get flu' ever there is a good chance you are getting it and your immune system is good enough that yr sx are not bad. You do probably shed virus like mad. If you have contact with other folks on a regular basis that have pt contact you should get the H1N1.

There is a strain, from what I have heard that has some type of hemorrhagic pneumonia. A few weeks ago I had a blow my doors off something with coughing blood, huge fever and wiped me for a week. I am still gettting the vaccine. If I shed virus on someone it could kill em.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Morning Lodge.

Waiting around for my friend to pick me up and take me to the airport. Then off to Alaska (with a 2 hour layover in that horrible state abbreviated MN).

I enjoyed seeing all my friends' facebook status updates about going to Alaska. We're all excited.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Mr is off to Nebraska. Nebraska for hockey just sounds wrong.

I drive to OK City today, then fly out to Anchorage tomorrow - a direct flight! (Although we have an air refueling along the way.) Since we land only about three hours before the Michigan-UA_ game starts, if our receivers are late I'm going to be irritated.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

On your birthday?

Yep. He is always working (off somewhere) on my BD:( . When I was a kid the world stopped on my burthday. Now it is just a day where I have twice as much to do because Mr. is off somewhere, L'il needs to be ferried somewhere, work is overloaded and I can't balance the 2.:( Sigh.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Someone needs to explain to me the rationale of matching ties and shirts. Mr. has without a doubt the worst fashion penaly outfit on. Game misconduct. He assures me that it matches. Consists of a chestnut brown blazer, red and white little striped shirt and a tie that is black and brown horizontal wider stripes with some type of Snoopy logo on it. Why is it considered matching to have different stripes and colors matching? My eyes were hurting.

Good Morning Lodge!

Volunteering on a landscaping project this afternoon. It will be nice to get out of the office and do some real work for a change.

Have fun!!! Though I suspect it just won't be too interesting after your awesome layover.

WTW: Same for you! Minus the bit about the layover:p

Great news!! Snow is great! Even in October

I am planning on going to an auction on Saturday, for the guy that we've been helping clean out his house, show should make it interesting! I am hoping to buy some cool old stuff, including a miniature commemorative Minnesota/Michigan jug.
