Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Well, pesto and risotto are foods and "organic" is a marketing ploy meant to guile more money from the idiots who could otherwise pay half the price for something not labeled "organic."

(A study released last week - forget who did it - showed no significant difference between standard and organic foods.)

I have noticed that organic raisins don't taste as good as the regular kind. It might be that lack of preservatives make them go stale sooner, but these were supposedly still good.

Morning Lodge!

Preparing to leave for the day to The Fairbanks Museum's Traditional Crafts Festival. Talking to 4-6 grade students about maple sugaring. Wish me luck

I didn't know that they had maple syrup up in Alaska. :)

Morning Lodge!

Last day here, right after work I drive to northern Kentucky, just outside of Cincy, to meet up with a good friend that I graduated from Tech with. We will be consuming alcohol in massive quantities this weekend, for old time's sake.:p

I am very against organic food, but thats probably because I grew up a farm boy, producing food, and I have no reason to believe that the food we produced is any different than some organic stuff. Actually my dad gave me an article a couple years back about organic food, it said that there had never been a case where the application of chemicals, pesticides, fungicides, etc. to crops had ever cause the death of a person, whereas there were several confirmed cases of deaths after eating organic food that had been tainted by some kind of poisonous fungus or bug that would have normally been killed by a fungicide or pesticide. I also don't get the idea of not eating beef/pork/chicken that are antibiotic free...if I had a choice I would rather eat the meat from a healthy animal than one that has an infection that wasn't taken care of because of "antibiotic free". We never give any market animals an antibiotic within about 3 months of being market ready as it is, they don't need it, its when they're young that they do. I can't imagine how many calves die because they don't get a simple antibiotic to stave off pneumonia. :(

Morning Lodge. Huh, the local high school team stomped on the city team last night. Given their previous records and the locals losing the starting QB to a broken jaw the week before, I thought the Hornets would not stand a chance. Instead they won 50-14. In case anyone doubted how oooollllldddd I really am - the kid who scored 5 TDs last night is the GRANDSON of my elementary school principal (and son or nephew of a kid I graduated with who played RB for UMD).

Tonight is the 70s party for hockey fundraiser and tomorrow go see the Gophs in the new stadium. Doubt the outcome in that one will surprise me like last night did. :(

Oh yeah, Gopher hockey tix arrived yesterday! Our seats are now together! We had 2 tickets for years before our kid came along. Arena is sold out so figured we'd have to fight over who went to games, but some friends in our section told us the end seat behind them was a single and sold as single game ticket. We were able to add it to our package. Two years ago we were able to move it to a seat in the same row, now this year they slid it over and we're all three together! :)

Morning Lodge

And Hammer, at least you got to go outside tonight. I came home to find that no one had done dishes.
Dishes suck. I got home from work at a reasonable hour and was able to do dishes, vacuum, do 2 loads of laundry, unpack and organize my closet and start organizing the linen closet all before the bf came over. Still plenty of stuff to clean that I didn't get to though. :(

I didn't know that they had maple syrup up in Alaska. :)
I bought my parents some birch syrup (I think that's what it was) when I was in Fairbanks last year. They said it was great and there is a request for me to bring back more from Alaska this year.

Speaking of, where's WTW....how many days 'til hockey/Alaska?

In other news, I got a rep from dummy with a girl wearing an "I <3 bacon" shirt. I think she needed to eat more bacon. Or wear fewer clothes. Or maybe both.

Good morning Lodge. Good to be home.

By an underwhelming vote of 2-1 the members of your family agree it's good to have you home.

It's a Football Friday!! Good luck against Cal this week. The Metallic Rodents are gonna get hosed. Roast Bowl. :D

Morning, kids! So the box on the hair dye said "soft black" and appeared to be close to my natural shade... The box should have said, "Professor Snape". It's uh...very black.

Looks kinda nice though and when I cut off most of my hair in a few weeks, it'll be fun to have spiky black hair. :)

If it were possible for the Lions to get negative points, they would do it this week.:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

FWIW A client I was meeting earlier in the week had bacon flavored breath mints. He was eating them as if it was going to be his last meal. Since I was very close to punting his azz back to the right coast within 30 seconds of meeting him I never inquired about the things.

I had contemplated putting in negative points. However, I didn't want my predictions to look unrealistic. ;)

So in review....after thirty seconds, a client who was eating his last meal, punted your azz back to the bacon coast so he wouldn't look unrealistic. In other words it was just another day at the office.

What's the over/under on the Office Monkeys' game this weekend? ;)

My name is Nathan, and I approve of this message.

Cripes. I get back into the office and find out like 6 people are out with flu like symptoms. For sure, one of the six has been tested and does not have H1N1 but who knows about the others. My guess is that the other five are big pork eaters and will have H1N1. :D
