Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Cripes. I get back into the office and find out like 6 people are out with flu like symptoms. For sure, one of the six has been tested and does not have H1N1 but who knows about the others. My guess is that the other five are big pork eaters and will have H1N1. :D

They probably visited the swine barn at the fair. That'll learn 'em! :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

We just learned our corporate policy for H1N1. If you or a dependent family member are diagnosed with H1N1, and have a Dr. note confirming it, the company will pay you for time missed while you or your dependent are recovering, without using any of your PTO time.
Pretty generous, IMO

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

I am very against organic food, but thats probably because I grew up a farm boy, producing food, and I have no reason to believe that the food we produced is any different than some organic stuff. Actually my dad gave me an article a couple years back about organic food, it said that there had never been a case where the application of chemicals, pesticides, fungicides, etc. to crops had ever cause the death of a person, whereas there were several confirmed cases of deaths after eating organic food that had been tainted by some kind of poisonous fungus or bug that would have normally been killed by a fungicide or pesticide. I also don't get the idea of not eating beef/pork/chicken that are antibiotic free...if I had a choice I would rather eat the meat from a healthy animal than one that has an infection that wasn't taken care of because of "antibiotic free". We never give any market animals an antibiotic within about 3 months of being market ready as it is, they don't need it, its when they're young that they do. I can't imagine how many calves die because they don't get a simple antibiotic to stave off pneumonia. :(

the only time I ever buy organic anything is when it's cheaper than the regular stuff...which happens ever now and then at King Soopers. Otherwise, I don't waste my time

wear one of those masks! Talk like Darth Vader. Everyone will love you.

Morning Lodge. Played hockey last night, which was pretty fun. Took a puck off the hamstring and got taken out at the knees by a falling player, which knocked the wind out of me. Scored 6 or 7 goals though. :D

Yeah considering ours is "If you're sick, go home/don't come in. If you test positive for H1N1 you can't come back for 7 days or 2 days being symptom free whichever comes later and must have a dr's note to return." Which all the time off comes out of your PTO & Extended Leave time.

Mornin Lodge. TGIF, I need a weekend off. Though this one's gonna be spent with Aparch's family. This should be...interesting.

Playing with your girlfriend, huh?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

That would be a 5-some (if you include the gf)... of girls who live in the UP. You decide if that is a winning situation.
well, it WOULD be legendary...I mean...

:p

Not going to happen, though all four are cute.

Not bad at all. Good luck getting a doc to confirm H1N1 though, will "influenza-like symptoms" be enough of a diagnosis?

Morning, Lodge. Just about to head out. Would have left earlier, but my computer didn't successfully install Vista SP2 last night and I had to dig up the reinstallation disk to reboot the thing. :o

Skated with the U10 girls again, did you? :p

Ralph, I was just reading about the new EMPAC building at RPI, looks amazing. I'd love to get a chance to tour it.

So, that's what the young kids are calling it today.

How did those double runner skates work out for you? ;)

gmann - I like SG's idea about you wearing a mask at work.
Think any of the monkeys would notice/mind?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 83: Hot Toddies and Cool Weather

Make sure the mask is produced by a local corporation. Please. Pretty please. :)

3M? I heard today they have a mask that is pretty good at preventing air born germs from spreading. Probably just good marketing versus a good product.;)

Kudos to your organization.

State of MN is advising parents with children under age 5 that if your child becomes sick they/you should stay home for 7 days. I am sure that will happen more times than not. Not!

Then you can say to one of your underlings, in a darth vader voice "Luke, I am your supervisor"
