Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

The guy had around $20 worth of coupons that he never told me he had, so when his wife swiped her credit card before the transaction was complete, when I totaled the order I just hit the "credit" key. There's no going back after that. He says, "I have these coupons" and I went "Oh, crap..." He got all peeved and incredibly rude and condescending while I was apologizing up and down waiting for my CSM to get there to tell me how to fix it. And then I fixed it, by voiding the ENTIRE transaction [they had almost $200 worth of groceries] and re-ringing everything up, coupons included. It took forever, when he could have just gone to the service desk, had them void the few items that the coupons applied to, and then rang those up with the coupons, which would have been way easier for EVERYONE involved. He even, at one point, asked for the store manager. Seriously.
He should have owed you $20 for his idiotic behavior.
back to real food after lastr week's extraction. :D
Go out for a thick juicy steak! :)
Here's hoping that it's nothing and the guy really did used to live there and was just curious as to who owns his house now and what it's worth in this market.
I hope the same, but the Commie's advice about things like pepper spray and meeting the neighbors is good advice. Letting the police know about your encounter probably isn't a bad idea either.
Leaving at 12:30 though for an "appointment". *fingers crossed*
Good luck! :)

Just try to get in a habit of using quickpull every day or 2 to keep it running fast and remember to clear your browser cache (open browser, BB Button, cache options, then clear everything) every so often to keep that from bogging down and you'll be set.

Quickpull?

wT - It might not be a bad idea to talk to the local PD about your encounter. There may be nothing to it, or they may already have info on the guy. At the very least, they'll know you are on the alert and may maintain a presence near your home. Good luck!

Good advice and it won't hurt to make the call. More than likely if you ask or it may even be offered to provide an added presence in your area via additional patrolling.

Off to get a flu shot. Vaccines are available earlier this year since swine flu vaccines (two shots are necessary) will be available in October and storage space for vaccines is limited....meaning you can get your "regular" flu shot this month and the H1N1 variety in two shots next month. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

This is my Friday as I am also heading north for the weekend after work today with no Mrs. or little ones. Tomorrow at this time I will be on the golf course. After that I will be on the lake catching Mr. Walleye. After that cards, cigars, beverages and laughter.

Gonzo, exit 100 but don't hold me to it.. It's the second exit. If you end up in Canada it's not my fault. ;)

If you don't mind, where is your destination?

We're camping in Traverse County park, which is just outside of Browns Valley, MN. We'll be hunting all around Browns Valley, Wheaton and Ortonville. The truck is loaded to the max with a couple cases of Grain Belt Premium, Jack Daniels, cooler full of meat and some Montecristo Churchill (Dominican, not Cuban :o ) cigars. Oh, and what me rep told you :D If I did wind up in Canada, I'd get some Cuban Montecristo's ;)
I think you're right on the exit - I need to go through Herman, and IIRC it's the second exit.
Have a great time!

I'm still shaking/nervous/paranoid/worried. I wish I wasn't such a naive idiot sometimes.

its against people's nature to immediately distrust others... especially if you are friendly. Still, do what you need to do.

Mornin lodge! Just checking in. Finally getting used to the new apartment. Still have lots of boxes laying around everywhere (and I expect them there for a while yet). 2 more days of work, then heading to my dad's house up in Michigan for the long weekend.

I should get those shots. Then again, I'm pretty sure I had H1N1 already, so hopefully the antibodies are still kicking around my system.

wT:  All of the suggested ideas are good. If the police do come by, you should ask them to check your deadbolts and make sure your house is otherwise pretty secure too.

Morning, Lodge - got to sleep in today :D (though I wouldn't have been up so late if the girl and I hadn't been wading through a misunderstanding :o)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm hoping I'm just paranoid...but I'd rather play it safe. Anyone have a time machine so I can go back in time and not talk to the guy, or have told him something like my gun-obsessed boyfriend with an anger management problem and I are living there? (ok, maybe that would be too obvious a cover up)

wT - at least a security system will give you a discount on homeowner's insurance. Might not be a bad idea to start carrying pepper spray, either. I'd also strongly recommend meeting your neighbors ASAP and make nice with at least some of them given the fact you now have a dipsh*t nutjob possibly on your ***.
Oh, and maybe you should get a guard dog.
I was actually thinking about carrying pepper spray and perhaps keeping some in the night stand...I don't think I'd feel comfortable with a gun, but pepper spray maybe. Anyone know where to pick such things up?

I did meet one of the next door neighbors last night...he plays trumpet in the Michigan alumni band. Small world. I still need to meet the other neighbors. I love my house with it's huge yard and nice shade trees...but they also make for a secluded target.

I'd totally get a guard dog, but then I'd have to take care of it. Way too irresponsible for that.

Any sporting goods store that sells ammunition, guns, etc. will have both small hand held canisters and larger canisters for bear spray. I have a couple of bear sprays and the most expensive was ~$20.

I hope you are just paranoid 'trumpet! :) Probably he is just a curious dude. Checking in with the police and an alarm system can't hurt though. And neighbors. And lots of activity there. Good thing about the parents!

I'm looking forward to a "Dark and Stormy" weekend. Certainly not the weather - its been beautiful - but the cocktail - dark dark dark rum and ginger beer. Found ginger beer in Calumet!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

I used to carry pepper spray while biking in the woods. (bears, not creepy predators) I think I got it at Wal-Mart. Although I always figured in the moment, I'd get mixed up and spray myself.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Hello Lodge!

I'm back at work, probably not at 100%, but after popping some DayQuils I'm pretty close. Luckily the bug that I had seems to have only lasted a couple days. :)

I come back to work after being sick for 2 days and find that none of the 6 emails, that I sent Monday before leaving, were answered.
Time to continue bugging people to send me the information that I need to do my job.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Morning Lodge. In '82 I was living in Oakland, California and considering going to Pennsylvania on assignment (which is where I met the lovely Mrs. Goldy).

wT, I agree with Gonzo, et. al. Better safe than sorry.

Kid had orientation for middle school last night (doesn't start till next Tuesday). They have a 1/2 hour class on how to read the schedule. It apparently is not enough time. Whoever designed these schedules needs to be taken out and shot. I'm an engineer used to wading through jargon and deciphering arcane documents and this one is crap. Lots of unnecessary information and codes that need interpretation. No reason to make this so esoteric.
