Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Those are apostolic lutherans. Aka "bangers". (They call themselves that)

Women are housewives more often than not, and most families have more than five or six kids. Prevalent last names include: Helminen, Kivisto, Hyrkas, Hillstrom, Koski, Kangas, etc.

Wow.

Even more scary than that are those that are part of the Quiverfull movement. Basically, they believe that by reproducing to that degree, they can create enough new Christians to repopulate the sinful cities of the world. I have nothing against religious folk, but stuff like that? I'm sorry.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

I think two of those names were Tech players - Kivisto and Helminen. IIRC, Helminen was arguably their best d-man in the past few years (early departure I think).
Correct, except for the early departure thing. But then you could also mention that Michigan and Michigan State have also had players with the same name in recent years. I think there are a lot of them.:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Kivisto and Helminen are both "bangers", yes. Pietila as well.

'Diva, agreed. They're like a mini-cult. And their children are snotty, arrogant, cliquey *****es.

Yup. That sounds like my old roommate.

Were they all Michigan natives? I'm too lazy to look this sort of thing up, but I'm amazed that some D-1 players *may* be linked to religious cult-style family backgrounds. :p

I'm sure there's equivalent ones from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Vermont and Maine. :o Not to mention upper Ontario and Newfoundland.

Morning, Lodge. It feels weird not having work for most of this week, so I'm going to do like everyone else at my job and apply for the one relevant opening MHS is offering.

Yes, they were. They're also prominent in MN. (Cokato area)

In MI, they're mostly in the UP, and the Brighton/Howell area.

Of those, the only to be affiliated with an east coast school is a Bill Kangas at UVM. Though there were plenty of the others at the big Michigan schools (Tech, NMU, MSU, and the U).

Give it to me? Kidding, I do have to call them tomorrow and ask them to install whatever it is they install so I can watch tv (have the dish but not the other parts).

Kidding aside, it's yours if you want it - no charge. You just need to come over and get it. :)

Morning Lodge!

You have to have an active card or none of it works.
But she should be able to get all of the hardware, hook it up and then call dish to sign up for a package and activate everything. Really I think you just need the dish, receiver box, and wires running between the two. Then dish network will take care of the rest.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

Woot! Directv HD DVR installed and working. :)

Today is officially a good day. Now to find some HD Porn to watch.... ;)

Seriously, that might be gross. Im not sure I want that much detail on the skanks who star in those movies.

I'm heading off to lunch, then to the dentist's office for a regular cleaning. Fingers crossed for no cavities!!!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 82: Games in a Season for the big boys

There is a card inside the box that needs to be activated where you call them and read the number... The code the card 'on' and you're good to go!

Card slides in and out with a magnetic strip.

Soooo, that means I can't hand this off to 'ewe or anyone else?

If you are trying to get rid of the box, you can give it to anyone. They will still need to contact the service provider for an activation card of their own and any other missing hardware. If you are leasing the equipment, then you don't want to give it away as you would be liable for it still.

The card as has been mentioned is what makes the box work.

But if your system is old, they would be better off getting all new equipment.
