Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

350 pounds of rail meat on average for a half.

FWIW - My butcher charges .39 a pound to process. $15.00 to butcher. .20 a pound to grind into hamburger.

With factoring in what I pay the farmer for the beef I am guessing I will pay on average about $1.20 per pound for everything all in. $420.00 for half a beef is a pretty good deal as compared to the crap that is sold in the grocery stores.

They sell by the half and you take care of the butchering? The farmer doesn't have to deal with USDA that way. How much room in a freezer does that take up?

What's a 'typewriter'?
Its like a keyboard, only without a screen and you don't get a chance to delete your mistakes with it.

A coworker turned 48 today. People are teasing him about being old so he said you're only as old as the person you feel and my wife is younger then me. That made me laugh. :p
hahahaha

I think that's where I'm headed. I like their line of houses. My only critical decision points are - do I Get one that has the double wide rear doors so I can bring an ATV (or two) in it, and how big can I go now that I've downsized my Chevy from the 6.0 liter 3/4 ton to the 5.3 liter 1/2 ton. Another factor is getting one with a chemical toilet, since I really want Mrs. Gonzo to join me on several trips. An indoor loo is nice for the ladies. :)
So, whats wrong with her just using the hole in the ice there??
Cows and fish houses (though where I'm from we call them fish shanties)... this thread could not be more midwestern right now if we tried.

We could always bring up Eucher. ;)

Been annoying a pair of idiots in a facebook game I play by pasting Rick Roll Lyrics on their game wall. Been really fun. :D

The farmer calls me and asks how much of the beef I want. Usually I order a quarter (mixed quarter). This year I decided to order a half. The farmer takes the beef to the butcher and the butcher charges $15.00 for my half to slaughter.

I have a medium sized freezer. With the quarter and misc other stuff I have in my freezer we had plenty of room. Not sure how a half will look........

Midwestern bias? ;)

If only the tater tot hot dish discussion had been here instead of in USCHO Cooks.

We could never say enough about the goodness that is tater tot hot dish.
Never.

Haven't done a lot of ice fishing, have you? ;)

I've got the biggest freezer we could find, normally we freeze a lot of Veggies, this year the 45 days of rain took care of peas, beans look ok but... so Imight have some room. Like to have some beef or pork or both:D

As it turns out, I have a couple of roosters you can have. I anticipate giving them about another month before I put them in my freezer :D

If they're over 8 weeks, kill'em now. Thats some good eats right there. You won't want store bought chicken after having those

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

good luck!!

I agree!! The world needs more goalies.

What's a pasty? Isn't that what strippers wear?

Goalies rule. Except Darcy Wakaluk. He can burn in hell. And any *Flyer goalie in history, except Pelle Lindbergh and Ron Hextall.

you must be kidding, I can't believe that this hasn't been discussed in the lodge before!

They're basically meat, potatoes, other vegies, and spices stuffed inside a flakey crust similar to that of a pot pie's. Its a yooper thing. I love them, but haters like brent will say that they suck.:p

They don't suck, but they are the blandest thing you might ever eat. The best thing I can say about them is that they are filling.

... so Michael Jackson was really ~12 yrs old when he died?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I thought you said pasty at first and was very jealous. Once I realized it was pastry, I don't feel jealous, but I'm still craving a pasty.

Had one for lunch!! :)

It's actually a Cornish miner thing.
And they typically have ground beef, potatoes, rutabagas, onions, and occasionally carrots.
;)

That is a Lutheran thing, not a midwest thing. I got one of those when I had L'il.

Got the laptop. Turned out the Dell was scary. Ended up with a Sony. Have one already I love. Hopefully it will be OK.

Only one? Egad, woman, drop what you're doing, get out a casserole, and make some hot dish!

(and good luck with the Sony!)

The Cornish are correct here - they should never, ever have carrots. :)

Carrots > rutabagas in pasties, and I dislike cooked carrot. Those dam Cornish can't get anything right. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Of all things to happen in July, I'm catching a cold. Lovely.

Just made a pot of chili for lunch the rest of the week.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I assume there is some context here?

He took Jon Casey's job. And I never forgave him for it.

I actually met him after a game once, when I was a teenage ahole, and got him so mad he threw my pen halfway across the parking lot (asked him for an autograph, just so I got his attention). :D

Win! Though I have a hard time picturing chili in July. I suppose given the extremely mild summer we've enjoyed so far, it wouldn't be too far off. :)

I wish online reviews were better.... most of them regardless of product tend to end "and it/you did/will died/die a horrible death". I'm not saying that's what's happened in your case but I know that I tend to get jittery by negative reviews.
