I'd like to start buying farm-fresh meat/produce; it's a lot better than anything on the shelf right now. Maybe this weekend, I can hit the farmer's market!
And we haven't even gotten to the meat raffle.

I just witnessed one of those for the first time at a bar other than a Legion or VFW this past winter. It was, I forget the name, the cash-only bar across the street from Mayslack's. it seemed like there was some sort of raffle going on there every five minutes.

Ah, meat raffles, the cornerstone of many a VFW or Legion Hall.
And "meat market" is also slang for a Top 40 Club, complete with Coatless Hoochies.* I thought I'd clarify for the people who don't know that.
*Coatless Hoochies: It's 10 degrees, and you see a girl who thinks/knows she's hot, and is waiting in line to get in, wearing only a mini-skirt and a belly-shirt.
