Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I'm pretty confident that between Wally, gmann, ARM, dtp, SG and myself, we have enough fire power to hold off any siege. :)

ETA - here's the gun ownership by state as of 2001:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/health/interactives/guns/ownership.html

Last I knew it was No Dakota #1 and Maine #2 in guns per capita. Maine is becoming less of a hunting state though.

If you drive into Ashland, a town in north western Maine on Rte 11, you come to a town park which has a large sign stating no guns allowed in park:p , always cracks me up.

Margaritas for dinner tonight. Wait a minute, actually, we had nachos for dinner tonight, the margarita was "salad". I mean, it was the libation. I took a first shot at a Passionfruit Margarita!, and it came out rather well, if I do say so myself.

Which brings me to the question... why are baker's allowed to not know how to count properly?

They like to keep their hands:

The oldest known source and most probable origin for the expression "baker's dozen" dates to the 13th century in one of the earliest English statutes, instituted during the reign of Henry III (r. 1216-1272), called the Assize of Bread and Ale. Bakers who were found to have shortchanged customers could be liable to severe punishment. To guard against the punishment of losing a hand to an axe, a baker would give 13 for the price of 12, to be certain of not being known as a cheat. Specifically, the practice of baking 13 items for an intended dozen was to prevent "short measure", on the basis that one of the 13 could be lost, eaten, burnt, or ruined in some way, leaving the baker with the original legal dozen. The practice can be seen in the guild codes of the Worshipful Company of Bakers in London.

--wiki (and I've heard this reason over the years, also)

Where's the fun in that? :p

Thanks. That is exactly why I am doing this. I am calling a spade a spade in front of everyone. No more "he said/she said" crap. I will state my case and in doing so I will wash my hands of this matter and put this to rest. I have been preparing for this exact moment for three weeks now. I am ready. It is going to be difficult but worth it.

My father just happens to be a gun collector. :p

My dad used to until the kids down the street broke in, broke into the locked cabinet and took them. But then we were over Mr's friend's house this weekend with 8 M-4s, an AK, a few assorted other old things and that was in the safe he had open to show l'il. He has a few other safes dotted about his house.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

When little was 4 he was fascinated by all things medievil. It is hard to get into character for "Social aspects of Saxon villages" which I thought he got out to read the pictures and he most definitely got out so I could read it to him:eek:

So far- 3 loads of laundry- another going, emptied out the computer 'hutch' so I could put the scanner in, moved everything around. Swore at the 100+ feet of cable that attaches all the gadgets, after a cranky fit decided to use painter's tape to keep them in seperate little 'balls' of cord, emptied out the drawer of stuff in the hutch that we haven't cleaned out in 5 yrs and threw stuff out, put most everything away that came out of said hutch, helped lil as he does the same sorting in his room as he reconstitutes it (just painted it and put a new floor in), vacuumed and are now heading downstairs to clean out the pit (our fond name for our finished basement). We have company coming this WE which means we have to rearrange everything.
You win!

Another boring chicken dinner here, with broccoli and baked potatoes. Yogurt, peanuts, raisins, and Kashi Go Lean Crunch for dessert.

Picked up "Everyday Pasta" by Giada from the library today; really looking forward to trying some of those recipes out.

And now, bed calls. I do not want another sleepless night...:(
