Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Pole is missing the following:
- Hang-On/Super Hang-On (yes, I'm a Sega fanboy, how'd you ever guess?)
I wasted a lot of money on that one.
- Paperboy
I think I kept dying on Wednesday-Thursday - I hated how you didn't get credited with a delivery if the paper went into the garage.
- Marble Madness
This game is pure evil.
- TMNT: the Arcade Game
Took about $3 worth of quarters, but I beat that *'ing game.
- Bubble Bobble
I don't think I ever played this in an arcade - only on NES.
- Gauntlet
This is another game that is pure evil.

As long as we're on the topic of old-school arcade games, I would like to introduce you to MAME.

MAME and other assorted emulators rule. :D

Oh, Twitch, you and Mookie might like this one: on my MAME, I have some sort of Japanese draw poker/slot version of a game. But every time you get enough points to get to another level (each winning hand is worth x amount of points), a cartoon woman takes off an article of clothing, and things uh....happen with her (ex: one level, the girl rubs herself). It's friggin' bizarre and creepy.

My friends and I would always make someone play it, if they were drunk and hadn't played it before. The results are hilarious. Most of the time the first words out of their mouths are "What the F---?!?!?!" :D

Other than that, yeah, the usual old-school arcade games, some of which have Japanese or turbo versions.

GUN DEALER!

Basically Tetris combined with poker. It drops cards on you, and you clear rows by making poker hands.

Wish I could find it on YouTube...God I'm a nerd.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

I was very tempted to buy a Simpsons arcade game when I was home for Christmas. How cool would that have been? Sadly, I had no where to put it, and no way to get it home....and yes, that is all that prevented me from buying it.

Someday when I have a party basement it will have an old school arcade game in it and it will be awesome. Unfortunately, the house I'm buying does not have a basement...but the family room could become my party basement.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 77: Arcade Games of the Reagan 80s

Enjoy the flyover. We climbed out of Rapid City yesterday and flew near a B1 doing a pass. :)
Your fixed-wing bias betrays you! This was no mere flyover; we circled the town and landed at the park, where the folks fed us and we let the kids climb all over the helo. I hadn't been to a small town parade in years; it was fun. Horses, firetrucks, kids riding their 4-wheelers, and anyone with a car even the slightest bit out of the ordinary drove through town. Live music at the park too (they played country and western).

And B-1s rock. I think it's the nicest looking jet in the USAF inventory.
30 by 34 shop, place to get a vehicle into out of the cold and a place for my tools. Going to try and use solar to keep it from freezing, we'll see how it works
You know, the experts will tell you that nuclear is a lot more efficient than solar power, especially in New England. Just sayin'.

When I was a kid we'd draw plans for the coolest house EVAR and the main feature was always the arcade room. In fact, the rest of the house was usually minimal (if even completed), while we spent most of the time deciding which games to include.

Good morning, Lodge!

This is my last day off before a nine night stretch, so of course it's sunny and perfect for the first time since the last time I worked. :p

Morning Lodge!

No rain predicted here, maybe I can get the lawn mowed today.

That's on my to do list as well. I have to be careful not to slip on all the jackrabbit and cottontail poop; it's like walking on marbles!

90 days until the start of the season.

yeah, probably does. But hey, I'll take a squadron of B-52's or F-22's flying over than a pack of Huey's any day. :p

The closest airplane comparison in terms of purpose to a Huey or Apache would be an A-10 or a C130 gunship. I'd definitely take the A-10 over either of those given its insane armament / armor. Comparing a B-52 or an F-22 to a helicopter is just asinine. :p

Thunderstorms just rolled thru, another day another inch of rain. Keeping me from getting my slab ready to pour. So I'm drinking rum and Pepsi Throwback, mighty tasty

You got our blue sky that we had yesterday.

Wow, I'm surprised it was that bad up in Maine yesterday. It was really gorgeous here yesterday. A little on on the windy side, and there were a bunch of clouds early on, but still blue sky and that yellow orb thing in the sky. Ralph, the weather is not good in DC today? It's as beautiful here today, if not more so.

Yesterday, I was on the Esplanade by 9:30am, worked with the photographer till about 5:30pm. Must have walked up, down and all around the Esplanade I can't count how many times. Helped me work off all the junk food I ate. :) Helped man the registration table for our hospitality tent as well. Then got to watch the concert from right up front!! It was just a perfect night, the wind died down, the clouds blew away. The fireworks were indeed spectacular. I love the 4th of July and I didn't mind working all day at the event as I was able to enjoy the festivities at night.

This afternoon I'm going to the Red Sox game with my dad. My mother is dropping him off here in about an hour so I suppose I should go finish my coffee and jump in the shower. Tootles kids!

You didn't miss out on a thing. You did other stuff instead. My guess is the gamers are the ones who missed out

You're probably right, but I still wanted an NES too. :(

The fort got a flyover by four T-6s in diamond formation yesterday, and a B-17 was back and forth over my folks' house all day. Certainly no pieces of modern military equipment, but awesome in their own right.

Morning, Lodge. Would've posted last night, but after that day at work, I was slagged out. Couple thousand people visited, plus it was a long day to begin with, but everything went off without a hitch. Well, except for the old lady who fell down some stairs and broke her femur  :( But other than that, and the rainstorm at 3 PM, everyone had a grand time.

No whiskey ration though. ;)
