Had a good day at the family's. Brother showed up with the nieces unexpectedly (given the SIL has a bio dad and a step-dad, didn't know their plans) and we grilled up some brats. Mom is discovering that beer doesn't necessarily have to taste like Bud or Miller. She is beginning to like the stouts, although she still can't stand to have a full beer. I figure, after her lifetime of hating beer, and her having a half beer...that's a win. :) Dad enjoyed the Left Hand Milk Stout I brought over, too. He also is expanding his beer tastes. I'm so proud. :D

Also, oldest niece's 7th bday party is coming up. I feel old. Fun note: it's the day after my get-together for my orbit day. Yep, gonna hafta IV caffeine that morning.

A rare Monday that I'm working! My summer job at the golf course usually has the Mondays off.

Good Morning Lodge.

We had a good weekend. The weather was pretty good on the North Shore, it could have been better most of Saturday, but really, it was just cloudy, so it wasn't too bad.

We went for a 3.5 mile hike on Saturday, in one of the many state parks along the shore. Checked out a bunch of waterfalls Saturday and Sunday. Drove up to Grand Marais for lunch, dinner at Lutsen. It was very relaxing to get away, even for a short weekend.

Our room was right on Superior, literally 10 feet from the water. So we left the windows open so we could hear the waves. It also had a jacuzzi in the room, which was relaxing. We'll most likely head back there again, just we'll probably leave on Thursday night, so we get an extra day.


We left the cities at about 4, heading up 35, and the traffic wasn't bad at all.

Golf season for Mookie starts this week. Invitational in Indiana, PA -- got knocked out in 2nd round last year after we made the finals three yrs straight (win-2nd-win). Partner calling this "redemption year". Like it ;)

So last night I tried to sleep without using any of the painkillers I was given. The doctor said to ween myself off of them when I thought I could. Last night was not the right night. I ended up waking up about 2.5 hours after going to be and needing to pop a pill because I absolutely could not sleep with the level of pain I had. I ended up sending my boss an email to let him know I was taking a half-day off work today. I didn't want to risk a DUI while driving into the park and ride, and the pills last for 8 hours. Ugh.

Wait till your oldest niece is coming up to your house to celebrate her 40th on the coast of Maine:)

Got caught in a crazy rainstorm heading home tonight. Torrential downpour. My clothes are soaked, so are my sneakers. The storm ended and now there is a cool double rainbow outside.

Spent this afternoon volunteering with co-workers at a place called Community Servings. They prepare meals for more than 800 people wo are sick and bedridden. We had a chop-a-thon. Cut up leeks and peeled potatoes. Last year our company instituted this day of service to help celebrate out 100th anniversary. It went so well, we did it agin this year, made it a week long. This place is taking employees twice a day all week. It was pretty cool. It was so little and we helped so many. I wish I had it in me to do more.

A short nap turned into two and a half hours. Probably not sleeping well tonight.

Talked with the lady friend today..

After roughly 2 months, I wanted to check in and see how things were..

She told me her life isn't better, that's she's not good but she's not bad.. She also said she still believes I'm the one and she loves me.. She also said she thinks of me during the day when she's not busy. She told me he's afraid of being hurt and afraid of losing feelings for me again..

My life without her just isn't complete. It's not fun, and something is missing for me. I apologized for taking her for granted and for the little things I did that upset her or were just pointless things I did wrong. I then asked for another chance. A fresh start. A chance to start talking and take her on a date or whatnot. Slow and simple things to see what happens. She agreed.

She asked what happens now? I told her I get to take her on a first date at some point. She gave me an awesome little smile.

I feel relieved and I also believe I'll for sure find out one way or the other if she really does belong in my life. I'm excited to see how things shake out.:)
