Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 197: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Morning, Lodge! The resort that bbdl/wife and I are staying at is pretty nice. Not luxurious, but really cool and on the Chippewa flowage. Good food, last night was "buy a pitcher of beer, get a pint of bacon." Yes, you got 8 strips of bacon for free, in a pint glass. :D
They also think that a 3-4 finger pour of (Glenlivet 12, Tito's vodka, Jack Daniel's Honey) is a standard pour. Yeah. Hitting up the Porcupine Mountains today, then getting to Houghton eventually. There's a couple stops that we want to hit, but may save some and backtrack a bit tomorrow, while we wait for the rest of the group.

-Question for you? Where are your seats at Fenway? We're heading in for a concert this weekend (Foo Fighters) and 2 for Pearl Jam. I think our PJ seats might be near your seats and I wondered about the comfort and view...

Grandstand, section 25, row 4. If you're at a game, they're behind the opposing team's on deck circle, more or less. For concerts, they're probably very good from a sightline perspective with the caveat that they're pretty far back so the performers on stage will be very small. :) Assuming there will be large video screens. Fenway is not an ideal concert venue. As for comfort, there is none. The seats are wood and they're cramped. Just giving you fair warning. The last two concerts I went to at Fenway I was on the field and everyone stood, not sure if that happens in the grandstand or not.

Yeah, because that's practical everywhere
Sorry, I'm sure it was in jest, but we bought last year after renting for years and there are pluses and minuses to both. I can't stand the whole idea that renting is worthless.

Yikes!

Evening, morning (?) Lodge. Fun day. Turned a 3 hour trip into a 7-8 hour trip, on purpose. Hit up some small towns,, did a mile hike, had some good grease food, then landed at our destination. Taught the bartender how to make a good Dark And Stormy, and she succeeded quite nicely. Enjoying the perfect evening on the hotel patio. Gorgeous weather.

The rest of the group shows up tomorrow. More fun times.

Good Morning Lodge!

Are you looking for a good car or a toy?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 197: Hot! Hot! Hot!

He said bleh. I'm thinking he didn't want to look. So likely not a toy.

Well, some people buy a car because they love cars. Some people look at them as something you need but only care if they are functional

Hay Mavs, sorry about the car situation. On a more pleasant note, I'm starting to look into planning my trip to Mankato in October. What hotels are close by the rink? Or on/near campus?

I’ve been driving a 2001 Camry for 10 years now. No payment has been fantastic. Engine still works fine, but the body is finally starting to go. Have a pretty nice crack/rusted out piece in the frame — basically it’s not a town car.

I was hoping to get another year or two out of it and then finally get a truck, but I just don’t think it’s the smartest idea to go the truck route right now. (Was looking at 2014 Silverados and they’re still $30,000) Trying to find something reasonable I can pay cash for, continue without payments, and see where I’m at 12-18 months from now.
