Anyone nailed down hotel rooms for the frozen four yet? Not sure if I want to be downtown off the loop/cta or in the burbs with a car. Weather is always iffy but golf could be possible. I understand the UC is near a subway..... Decisions decisions....

CTA Blue Line goes from O'Hare all the way downtown, and then shoots back out to the west, including a stop about a block from the United Center. If you're thinking of golfing on the off day, I'd think the train will be a PITA when hauling clubs, especially if you need to make line transfers to get to your hotel. In the month I spent there for work, I found it annoying enough lifting a roller bag over the turnstiles.

You could rent the car for your golf day, but stay somewhere near a CTA stop and use that to get to downtown and the UC, thereby avoiding the worst of driving in Chicago?

ok. think mookie is flying into midway. can get a direct flight from MHT for $190 rt. then there is a stop right there i think (orange?) that goes into the loop.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

chicago is a big arse city. when mookie was in MI playing last weekend he drove past Beverly CC on his way to the midway airport. that is a place on his radar but still a haul from downtown.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

suppose can always find a hotel outside of the loop where they offer free parking and are near a cta station. was reading about places for breakfast that are spread out but sound awesome (mookie loves breakfast. did the same thing when stayed in minneapolis at the ff up there).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #187: Lazy End Days Of Summer

Just had a freaky issue with my laptop. Was on Facebook, and clicked on one of those "Dad took his daughter to lunch, guess what happened next!" type of posts. I've clicked on those before but when I did this time, I got a page that looked Microsoft branded. A small dialog box came up and audio saying something that I was trying to access a porn site and to call a toll free number, it was looking for a user name and password....very strange. I called the toll free number, got someone who didn't answer Microsoft Tech Support, or whatever so I hung up.

Managed to control alt delete and then shut down. When I started up and clicked on the Firefox icon, it said it was trying to restore previous tabs but I was able to close out the porn site. Whew. Going to run a full virus scan right now just to be safe.

We are staying at a Holiday Inn Downtown. But only Wednesday and Thursday nights. Doing a brewery/winery trip Friday and Saturday into Michigan and Indiana. Will be back for the Championship game.

passed a lot of winery type places driving around there last week. we stayed in bridgman. got as far north as point o'woods before heading back to chicago. should have good options there.
