Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Mookie's favorite airports are NRT, SIN, & BKK

No way! :D

LGA and DCA are the same way. They are scheduled for a perfect day where everything goes smoothly. Those days don't exist.

Emphasizing your last line. There is nothing positive about LGA - none. Just getting out of that armpit excuse for an airport makes you very lucky. I saw where there is some big vision to have it properly connected and fully modernized by 2021 - they even brought Biden in to give some big bullsh*t speech. Figuring NY politics, it's going to cost the taxpayers and residents 2-3 times what was quoted, and won't be done until 2030-ish.

Ugh. Went to church today, and talked with some regulars...looks like it's closing, it's a matter of when. They are thinking end of Sept, when the current "beer mini-tour" ends (promotional thing), but they COULD be going month-to-month on their lease and get through NFL season, which is a big money-maker for them (the BWW in the same strip mall doesn't have the NFL ticket, for whatever reason). Either way, this sucks.

Good evening from the north shore.

Day three is almost over. There has been hardly any cell service until today.

Beautiful area. Perfect weather. No bugs.

We have been a averaging about 7 miles a day of hiking.

For those of you familiar with the UP. We have been listening to a radio station called the Eagle. Good tunes!

NY Strips and corn on the cob for dinner tonight.

Good Evening Lodge!

Been streaming the Olympics and forgot to check in. Streaming is def the way to go. Barely any ads. You see almost everything and the commentators are much better on the stream

Had to do that too. They never show the trap and skeet on the TV.

Good morning Lodge.

Our campsite is on a bluff overlooking Lake Superior. The breeze off the lake is quite cool.

Coffee is on. Everything omelettes, left over pie from Betty's Pies, raspberries and thimbleberries are being served for breakfast (the boys and I picked bunch of the berries last night.)

Lake Superior is quite large. I don't know how you can overlook it. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

Have done nothing except eat, drink, sleep, and watch Pearl Jam since Friday at 10am. I need a return to normalcy soon...but not before I wait for set list t-shirts outside Fenway at noon today...

I'm so sorry. That sounds horrible!

Note: I hate Pearl Jam

The coverage is awful on network TV. schlock for 10 minutes. A snippet of sport, 5 min of ads, a little 2 minute snippet, 5 more minutes of ads, then another bit of schlock. My plan was to watch the stream yestersay and then stop in the evening and watch the network to get some of the other sports. The coverage of actual sport was so minimal I gave up. That and they alter the order, sensationalize what has happened and rewrite history to show the story they have made up vs what actually happened. I never realized how bad until yesterday. The commentators on the stream are way more factual and instructive. The ones on network are all emotion and trying to frame the story they want. Irrr-it-tating.

There is something wrong with this?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat

3 hour delay but starting to board finally. This Monday sure feels like a Tuesday.

So the kid fresh out of college some three months prior is already a world-weary business traveler? That's funny. :)
