Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

I have some buddies from college that play old school. No computers. All calculations are from newspapers with paper and pencil. For some the ffl season is a part time job. F that.

Well my retirement was met with a bunch of (serious) F U's and the group storming out. They literally threw their money down on the table to pay for the bill and left, said goodbye to everyone else but me. Got home, I'm now banned from the league site.

But other than that, I'm as happy as Mrs Lincoln after seeing the play.

Isn't skeet shooting something you should do in private?

No, we shoot at the range. It would be pretty expensive to have a private skeet setup. Shot decent in trap, a shot above my average, terrible in sporting, and pretty dang good in skeet, considering it was my 2nd round ever.

I'm rolling reading this with the alt-definition of "skeet." :D

Was this your opening line to meeting up with the guys or did you save that for near the end when it came time to draft?

We sat down, caught up with things, and it wasn't the draft, it was the lottery to SEE where we drafted. Once "business" talk started, about an hour into everything, as we were finishing our meals, I announced it, before we continued business talk. They cussed me out, then left. That quick.

Wow. That must have been weird.

It was. Talked with a close friend (non-affiliated) afterwards, and he mentioned, "Do you know how surreal this sounds to an outsider?" Yes, I do. It's the way of our people. ;)

It reads like an excommunication from 600 years ago or a current day Amish shunning.

Right now? Pretty much. For the last 10 years or so, it wasn't about the money. It was about the pride and ego, etc. The show "The League" was VERY familiar to us, as we've been through many of the same situations that were FFL-related. We'll see what happens in a while, since many of us are obviously on FB and such.

Good Morning Lodge. From the office again....:(

I'll be VERY happy when these two jobs go out. And I hope I never work again on a job that is so unnecessarily complicated by the architect as one of them is.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Interesting events, Brent.. Definitely seems like an episode of The League.

Afternoon y'all. Enjoying the lake today. It's windy, but there's always a calm side! No clouds either.:)

Enjoying my last couple weeks of unemployment!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Good evening Lodge.

Sitting by the fire on the beautiful shores of Leech Lake. It is quite breezy as the campfire is about 50 feet from a sugar sand beach and we have quite an impressive view of th big lake. Hooded sweatshirt and a tasty beverage and all is good. Stony point is an awesome place. The only real issue is that the May flies hatched a few days ago. Other than that no bugs.

Brent. Your ffl league "buddies" have a right to be pizzed as they are losing some easy money. :D

I miss Leech Lake.

And the joke's on you! This year was my year for a championship. Won in 1996 and 2006. /science.

You've not seen the mosquito infestations we have here. With 11,842 lakes comes a great many mosquitoes. They breed in still bodies of water, and most lakes have those sorts of features to them. The lakes are both a blessing and a curse for this state.

Mosquitoes vs Mayflies is a tough call. It's long-term annoyance vs short-term pure hell. I've suffered a "rainstorm" of mayflies when they all decided to die midflight.
