Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Morning.

Thanks to the sheriff vehicle behind me while i was doing 60 in a 45 for a good mile, for not pulling me over this AM.

By behind, I mean the car directly behind me doing 60 also. :D

Good Morning Lodge.

Busy day. Gonna have to miss the Trap Team Banquette tonight as I will be working late.:(

PS: Brent the Fair is 12 days, not 10. I thought you knew stuff about the fair.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Stormy day here in Indy. Severe thunderstorms, potential hail and tornadoes in the forecast. Hmm.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Well, back to work for me. It was a good run with 3 months off, including the entirety of the NHL Playoffs, and the Frozen Four.

Unfortunately, going back to work means my beard had to be shaved off this morning. That was a glorious, full, bushy beard.

Baby about 3 rows behind me just going to town with the screaming, haven't even taken off yet. This should be a fun one.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Good Morning Lodge!

We used to get together every 4th - whole fam, lobster, clams, dropping the docks in the lake, etc. Then Dick Head cousin was so obnoxious everyone started avoiding it and finally my Aunt nixed the whole thing. :( Now Mr Dick Head has finally done something so horrendous that he is completely ostracized. Trying to revive it but it won't be the same.

Not sure what my fave holiday is. With DH all of my sides' holidays have separated out and no one gathers all together. The in-laws don't really have the same type of traditions. Everything is kind of in limbo.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

I gotta say Christmas, for those who make it simple, anyways. Dinner, family, friends. That's it. Just get together and enjoy the good things in life.

Same reasons make Thanksgiving my fav. Also, growing up in Maryland with the extend family mostly in MI, we'd come up for Thanksgiving but stay in MD for X-mas. Oh, and my mom's side of the family did Thanksmas (since we didn't get together for Christmas, we'd draw names and do a fun gift exchange at Thanksgiving). Some of my favorite memories with my cousins are from Thanksgiving. Beyond the family and great memories, it's also centered around food (which this fat girl loves) and being thankful and appreciative of what you have. There's also the Macy's parade (with a bunch of Broadway performances). What's not to love? Well, maybe the Lions losing, but other than that, holiday perfection.

Update: baby seems to be OK with flying, it's just the being on the ground stuff is for the birds. Go figure.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Just got another Likedin message from a recruiter. The difference this time is that she's the hottest looking head hunter I've ever seen (if that's really her picture on Likedin). But no, I don't want to do 40-50% travel.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

Thanksgiving is where it's at.

Food and family. Nothing else. No pressure to spend money on gifts and all that crap.

Getting ready for another round of camping. Chippewa National Forest. We have a sweet spot on a peninsula on Leech Lake.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #185: Summer Activities

I enjoy Thanksgiving because it's just my immediate family, but we hit the road for either Iowa City or Nebraska each year around 4pm; Technology now allows us to continue watching football, but usually we'd listen to the Dallas game on the radio, and part of the night game that they now play on Thanksgiving as well.
